My combat enjoyment of Prompto is entirely reliant on his techs, really (Said the guy loving around with sidequests so much he's just hit chapter 6 at level 40. Without using any exp boosters outside of hotel stays). Mostly when I want to hurt multiple people, but I find myself relying on his "Just shoot them" outlook in life in fights against stuff I'm used to Gladio loving up his pathfinding and depriving me of a sweet 9999 pop up, for example. "Gladio, buddy. Walk AROUND the giant crab corpse...welp that was sure worth two tech bars." Also if you really hate Prompto, unlock his Star Shell tech ASAP. Every group of friends has a Prompto. In my clique it was Dave, a bit more hyper than the rest of us, constantly quoting Beavis and Butthead and super into things the rest of us weren't, but he was just as much a part of the team as the rest of us even if he'd rather watch wrestling than play D&D. I'm starting to get on board with this game after the tonally bizarre "emotional" scenes of Noctis trying to deal with his country (city...?) being torn apart while he's dressed like a stupid rear end in a top hat.

Did any pictures get taken on the return to City 17? Or are they lost forever now. It seemed to shunt you to Hammerhead immediately afterward, and all the most recent pictures are from there.

At first, they were upset. Then, they realized pushing the car was easier without Noct. Over an hour's worth of "Looks like Noct was holding us back :iamafag:" jokes ensued.

I'm surprised there weren't any taken during the cutscene on the cliff; I got at least one taken there but I guess it's random for everyone. The frequency might depend on Prompto's photo level, but he does take pictures during cutscenes he's around for (like of that fancy guy throwing coins at the resort).

When they're heading back to Insomnia and come across the cutscene roadblock with the mechs, they get around it by driving off road for a bit. When you get control back, can you run back to the roadblock and fight the big robots?

During the OSU terror attack, college students were posting dope photos of their classroom's shelter-in-place rigs, and in every photo with students in it they were all playing with their phones. Noctis' MySpace status update afterward was probably filled with a bunch of emo whining and very importantly letting us know he's listening to My Chemical Romance right now, and prompto probably just tweeted out sadface emoji dookie emoji to his 3 followers. And then they all went back to candy crush.

I almost choked on food I was eating from laughing when Kuvo crashed the car. Also what is with the drop ships in this, do they appear by area or are they trying to simulate random encounters from the older games?

I hope you are ready for those dropships as according to others on the net they do not stop coming, people can't decide if it is just poor game design (likely) and/or they were trying to simulate random encounters in an open world environment. Either way you will be getting them dropping in often in the open world while doing quests and hunts. A popular tactic seems to be to use magic attacks on them as they drop down as they are all bunched together in one group so you should hit all of them or most of them. So any sort of magic + aoe attack should hopefully kill them super quick. Hope that helps in some way.

Part that, part "the last heir and only thing stopping us from De Jure and De Facto rule of that country is down there is either helping our citizens live a better life, or just trying to get his rocks off for a reporter, let's kill 'em!" That being said that seems brutal, I remember maybe having 2 drop ships popping up in rapid succession, but not that badly.

Yeah the dropships happen because the empire is actively trying to kill your party. And yeah Magic makes the dropship troopers eat poo poo.

Airship drops have two methods, and one variant. A: They drop them off nowhere near you. So either you never notice them, or you double back for a quick curb stomping even if they are ten levels above you because the Empire are chumps B: You're in the middle of trying to fight something you can't instantly murder normally, and it's the 3rd time they've airdropped more soldiers into the middle of your ongoing fight. Bonus round: Instead of the stuff you can chump without magic, it's that one rear end in a top hat type magitech soldiers who Helicopter spin their way through your attacks and dodges. If you play smart and wait for proper openings, they carve up your boy band in the meantime if you don't accept nuking them alongside your team with lightning is a net gain (Because they airdropped them into the middle of your hunt again ) FeyerbrandX posted:That being said that seems brutal, I remember maybe having 2 drop ships popping up in rapid succession, but not that badly. My current of record for interruptions is trying to do a Hunt fight, four airdrops full of Magitech Assholes, and wandering Coeurl joining in all at the same time. Then loving off as a fifth airship dropped a walker mech onto me while I was in the forced 'pause to catch breath' animation post fight to interrupt my sprinting

What's supposed to happen is dropships spawn every time you cross certain boundaries. This, uh, doesn't seem to work most of the time and the game just shits dropships all over you. This is fun, tbqh, all the way up until the Magitek Assassins start showing up. Then it's not fun anymore. Until you ram into the level cap with prejudice.

Oh so they decided it was best to put a boundary on an area you have to search in circles for an item, great design. I guess it's less like random encounters and more like doing a crime in a Grand Theft Auto game and being punished by the police/FBI/national guard chasing you down, the crime is playing this game though.

Ok. Dropships. I will clarify the hint I made a while ago. If you want to poo poo all over the game, and on groups of dropship troopers in particular, and be cost efficient while you're at it, combine 99 sheep's milk with 99 of any elemental energy when you're crafting magic. 99 sheep's milk costs 990 gil. This will get you 6 uses of dualcast -aga magic. Thundaga in particular is very useful for dealing with dropships. It is up to the LPers whether you wish to use this power.

The boundaries thing makes a lot of sense, especially when you consider people having multiple ships drop on them in a fight cus they're hopping a boundary line a bunch over the course of the fight. They're pretty fun imo, the battle system is a lot of fun to be good at when in a clusterfuck of a dropship, a hunt, and a pack of wild animals.
|
# ? Jan 10, 2017 02:44 |
|
I do think the combat looks pretty fun and drop ships from entering boundaries make sense, until the game asks you to search in a circle with a boundary line through it where you'll inevitably cross it over and over again resulting in 4 encounters in one area with hardly any time to search for the item you can't pick up because picking up rocks in combat is too hard. Then I start having a problem.
