It's actually a bit of the other way around-she narrowed the gap in areas Trump still won handily, while neglecting states that, as it turned out, she very much could lose. (For example, she lost only lost Texas 52-43, whereas Obama lost it 57-41. But then of course she lost Pennsylvania by nearly a point, whereas Obama carried it by 5).
