Also I wouldn't touch any of those players for that kind of money*, especially if I didn't need them. You can do better in important attributes for much less. *In FM16 money. Inflation seems to have done a number on prices in 17 based on what little I played, so maybe £30m is nothing.

I got Sane, Depay and Asensio for a combined 14 mill (Depay was free) you can get some crazy deals on 17 because for some reason the AI refuses to rotate their teams.

Well too fuckin bad cos he does Nah he doesn't all of a sudden turn into a world beater, but he starts out as a good player and has improved by a point or 2 over maybe 8 different attributes? It's not huge growth but it's tidy progress

Picture pack is just the cutout megapack from sortitoutsi, signatures is part of the Vitrex skin from Debski, who has also done a massive hairpack for regens if you donate to him. I reckon it's worth a donation, he churns out consistently good skinning stuff for FM

I ended up signing Depay cos he was the only one who could properly pass and shoot from range, and he's paid me back with 2 assists and a goal in 3 games so far. Signed Martin Montoya for a knock down price of $15 mil for RB, and then spunked waaaaay too much money on this insanely one footed 20 y.o. to play up front:  Tell me how bad my decisions have been plz. On the subject of facepacks, I downloaded the massive gently caress-off megapack with 73 million players in it and still signed a couple of youth players without a picture, and it drove me nuts enough to google them, find a good pic and add it myself cos I don't want some blank-face weirdo banging them in

Dan James deserves a picture. Concentration 10 means that lad is only going to use those attributes 2/5ths of the time during games. Expect a lot of howlers. Coaches say anything about his consistency? Doesn't effect physicals, though, so at least you know he'll run fast.

The penalty for Consistency is that the player will play at ~10CA under his normal attributes, with exactly how much under determined at random (-10 is the average "off-day"). I'm not 100% but I assume Concentration operates in a similar way. There is a suggestion it comes into play more and more later into games. The documentation for all this stuff is dogshit.

The lad has scored 6 in 7 so far so whatever imo. Depay has 7 goals and 5 assists in 12 league games too, he's the second best player in the league so far. I'm just glad that the press conferences are better than ever:

Is 17 worth the purchase if 15 was the last version I bought? I'm not super fussed about database updated but normally buy every other year. This year just isn't jumping out as a must buy though - that may be because I'm not sure of the exact changes.

16 was the first one I felt was a genuine step back over previous games. 17 is a stable version of that with far less annoying bullshit ruining the match engine. In summary idk.

I figure this game is okay? All the negative reviews seem to be Chinese people shrieking like autists about miles being a liar. Everyone else seems to say its fine or are the Chinese right for once?

It would be nice if after winning the Champion's League and being rated the 2nd best club in Europe by the game's prestige thing or whatever, if half my team wouldn't still demand a transfer to poo poo clubs in the French leagues and so on. what do you guys do for development of regens or talented young players? do you train them in skills they are already good at, or do try to round em out? I have a central defender with like 14 marking and 14 tackling in the championship and he's only 20...I anticipate him being a part of my defense for some years...should I train him in marking or tackling....or round him out with some mental stats/passing...idk. also what are the best roles to use? Like I read somewhere (maybe here) that its best to recruit strikers that have good physicals and than train them as poachers since it increases first touch, finishing and some other key stats

I try to train up the really lacking stats, particularly attacking stats, while they're as young as possible, and once they've had a bit of progress start them on a training regime to specialise. I'd be training that CB up as maybe a libero or a fullback to get his pace, technique, passing and maaaaybe dribbling up a bit higher since his defensive stats are already good, and then once he's not entirely poo poo at those, train him to become an even better defender. Physical stats are good because they aren't affected by form, but they're not a super important criteria for me when buying prospects. Strength particularly will increase heaps naturally at the age of ~20. For strikers I tend to train them as inside forwards if they can already play a wide role, because it's got all the important stats to be a creative player and a good striker, but mostly I find I want to make up for any outstanding holes in their game and try to improve those. I've never been any good at training mental stats though, even through tutoring...
