Fuuuck. Edea's faithga sb is only a 20% boost, and so is burst mode. I thought both were 30%'s. I've been doing some simple calculations to determine what strategy for the torment dungeon is best for me as I have zero worthwhile aoe, and this fucks everything up. Well at least I remembered quistis's bsb has a magic buff command. That actually makes her more desirable than my level 99 bsb-less onion knight.

Create your own and save yourself the humongous headache. This also lets you get away with bringing your own dream dps combo since you can just boot everyone until you get a OK/Ramza/Y'Shtola/Krile/whatever on your team. That being said I've resigned myself to just run Ramza/Y'Shtola from here on out since no one likes to support or buff. Multiplayer when it works is super rad but like every other game can be a real slog with dummies.

Whew that D200 fight was a friggin' bitch, no way can I pull of the 250. Had to RW wall because bringing Y'Shtola was killing my DPS, and even then I barely made it. Second Wall wore off right at the end when they had about 5% health left, so I got hit with about 5k AoE and had everyone hanging on by a thread right as Beatrix and Ramza let loose their BSBs for the kill. Those medal conditions are brutal, because they force you to bring some weird setups unless you've got a great mage team. edit: Also, what should I do with these Spellblade motes? I have Celes' BSB but not her runic, so I take it that makes Snowspell Strike a lot less attractive. But I don't really see anyone better to use them on - the only other Spellblade I ever use is Cloud since I have his OSB, but he can't use it (unless it unlocks after I dive him?). Once in a very rare while I'll use Squall or Bartz for synergy - I have Squall's BSB but only an SSB for Bartz - and of those I guess it might be alright on Squall if I ever get his OSB. Do I just unlock it on Celes and try to pull her runic sword at some point? Do I craft / shatter the rest? Grizzled Patriarch fucked around with this message at 23:07 on Jan 11, 2017 |

I'll complain all day erry day about MP while continuously running apocs for funsies and you can't stop me Current MP complaints: I wish we could save character sets like we can with parties. Trying to manually switch in the party screen is basically dooming yourself to naked failure. Pubbies who insist on too many healers so you don't even have the dps to get past Bart's shoulder pads. Pubbies who bring OSBs and then wait to use them when the boss is no longer weak to their element. Pubbies who don't appreciate radient shield's ability to bring Bart down in a timely matter. Pubbies who reapply wall at the 60% mark. Just hold it in a little longer, geez.

Relm's USB looks pretty good actually - instant cast, Curaja + Stoneskin + Powerchain. You'll have the same issues with her as she's just about as squishy as Eiko, but otherwise it's a fine USB. Mog's is fairly standard fare - MAG/MND and Hastega on entry, and an instant Curaja + Regen command, and Holy damage + MAG down on the other. Instant Curaja is always great, although no Medica holds him a bit back. It's one of the very few BSBs that apply Hastega, so there's that.

After many tries with various combos, I finally took out MP Bart by just taking Agrias and Faris and debuffing him into irrelevance. We botched the timing on the dispel one time, but he still only managed about 2.5k without mitigation. I kind of want to pull on the FFT banner for Agrias' BSB, but I feel like even if I had it I would still just use Cleansing Strike all the time.

Celes BSB2 seems not that incredible. Entry is Runic, +30% ATK/DEF on self, 8 ST physical spellblade holy/ice hits, and Burst Mode. Command 1 is 4 ST physical spellblade ice/holy hits and boost spellblade damage by a small amount for the next 2 turns, command 2 is 2 AOE physical spellblade ice/holy hits and a Dark Bargain buff (+30% +ATK/-DEF). No quickcast commands and no en-element bonus means she'll be left in the dust by most major BSBs, and all she really has to show for it in exchange is Runic. Which makes the burst commands even less relevant because you'll just be recharging 5* spellblades/Snowspell Strike/Gaia Cross/Saint Cross anyways. It's the best way for Celes to put up Runic at least. Also worth noting is that that the legend materia relics do not have any SBs attached and their legend materia is only LM1 quality; Celes' relic is only a low chance to dualcast spellblades as opposed to the medium chance to dualcast spellblades of Bartz's LM2. This makes them pretty marginal pulls, to say the least. Celes LM2 also isn't supermassive, just a large boost to SB generation whenever you exploit a weakness. If it's really large, it might make up for no native access to Wrath or Lifesiphon though.

You're crazy, Celes's BSB2 is extremely good. It's Indomitable Blade for the fights where that's relevant (ie the fights where it utterly breaks the fight) and it's a self-buff extraordinaire BSB for the fights where the runic isn't relevant. Stacking ATK+30% is better than en-Element for damage. Being able to self-stack to the Attack cap is super nice (397 Attack required to self-stack to softcap in any realm, totally achievable without RS) and her command 1 gives a damage buff which completely avoids both the stacking buff cap and the attack cap. LM2 is a large increase, which should mean she gets another +50% to SB generation from hitting a weakness, for +100% total. That means a standard ability is going to generate 120-130 gauge without Ace Striker, or 180-195 with. As long as the boss has a weakness to exploit (except Dark because you're not bringing Drainga or Darkra on her) she'll be able to get that BSB/SSB up quickly and keep it up, which is sometimes a problem for her. Per this threads advice, my current A team consists of: Beatrix (BSB) Firion (BSB) OK (BSB, general medal conditions if needed) Gordon (Reverse Wall, support, half of proshellga) Vanille (BSB, healing, other half of proshellga) RW: Wall (I have native, but tyro doesn't mesh well here) In my draw on XIII banner 1, I pulled Hope's BSB. OK isn't dived for Support 5 yet (he's close, but I ran out of 4* motes). Should I: a) keep Gordon around b) use Hope instead of Gordon unless I really need those breakdowns instead of breaks, plus the whole reverse wall thing And if I sub in Hope most of the time, should I make and hone him an Alexander so he can hit weakness after I imperil? Or give him Diaga/run whatever black magic the boss is weak too? His other slot will probably be the less important half of proshellga most of the time, assuming the fight needs both. (side question, in said team setup, my mako/DMT are on OK and Vanille. Is that where they should be? I only got DMT during orbfest, and Mako just dropped yesterday, so I'm not used to them)

Decided to just solo Apoc Bart and it went a lot easier then I thought without the lag. Maria was DPS with her BSB, Palom and Fang provided MAG breakdown mitigation with their SSBs, Eddie was Support and Mage Shout, and Selphie was there for Dreamstage. The dual breaks on top of Full Break/Magic Breakdown were key to make this work, since I could save my second cast of Wall for right after Dispel, and I would've been safe with the breaks up regardless. Mithross posted:Blahblah Gordon until OK gets Support 5, and then Hope for most battles to benefit from the Imperil Holy Beatrix is providing. That said, bring Gordon back for bosses with lots of piercing attacks, stacking debuffs is ideal for that. For Hope, I'd say make him Alexander if you can. Less for the Imperil and more because is BSB gives him Enholy to boost Alexander's damage. Diaga is a no since it uses the MND stat instead of MAG. You can go to the chain spells or 4*/5* Summons when a boss is weak to them. If Hope needs to use Proshellga, consider giving him the extra Mako Might/Dr. Mog's depending on how good your hones are on your spells. My MM/Dr.Mog priority goes to the Boostga/Hastega (Onion BSB for you) and Wall first. If you RW one, it depends on the fight what you do with the second. Gordon is a good general option for the reverse wall. Vanille isn't that bad either, although I normally go with Tidus's Ace Striker/ Ramza's Battleforged or Squall's Lionhearted RMs instead, since I hopefully don't need a Medica right as the battle starts so the SB generation RMs are nicer. pichupal fucked around with this message at 10:16 on Jan 12, 2017 |

Dena's inconsistent choices between ridiculously long winded descriptions or obfuscated bullshit drives me crazy. Instead of "infuses the user with the power of lightning," why not use the concise "grants lightning enelement"? Is it an attempt to be user friendly and not bog the player down with terms, even if those terms are basic, important concepts that would be useful (and easy) to pick up anyway? Because they weren't afraid to throw in "grants Last Stand." And then there's the vague, inconsistent descriptions for RMs. "Deal significantly more damage" can mean a 20% increase for some or a 30% increase for others. So you're going to be verbosely upfront about every SB mechanic but not even try with RMs? Just gimme some uniformity.

When it comes to damage boosts, it is somewhat uniform - it's consistent, but only amongst equivalent RMs. "Significantly more damage" is +30% for situational boosts - elements, weakness exploitation, specific skill sets - and +20% for universal boosts - usually equipment requirements. "Much more damage" is likewise +40%/+30%. So Pride of the Red Wings (significant boost w/sword) would be a +20% boost, but Sacred Tradition (much more ninja skill damage) is +40%. Trying to figure out the RMs that give actual stat boosts is completely inconsistent, though, same way no SB tells you how much it buffs stats.
