Turbo offense one man band, though I wonder would one dice palpatine with a supporter be a better deck, if the dark side gets a nine point guardian I can see it.

Set looks good. 160 cards is crazy, but I like that they are pushing out a ton of cards right away to build up the card pool. I'm guessing there will be another 17-18 legendary cards. I'm wondering if there will be starters as well.

Doubt there will be starters, since it says specifically booster packs. e/Palp is balls awesome. I like the idea of going full glass cannon with him. It will be really interesting to see how it fares against various archetypes. This game is only going to get faster with a wider card pool. FFG will have to be really good about balancing things like aggro vs control or they'll end up in a Hearthstone situation.

Starters are once a year, and sets are 3 per year. So no starters this time around.

I don't even have starters yet and I'm super excited for this next set already!

ePalpatine with a starting hand including Sith Holocron and Force Lightning has a chance to deal up to 14 damage on the first turn of the game. :eyepop:

It's certainly possible to increase the card pool such that the game slows down, it's a matter of what specific cards they print and push. But I suspect it'll be set 3 or 4 before we see them really able to respond to what's actually happening. Right now we've got probably zero developed meta information about Destiny, the burst damage decks right now are certainly powerful but to me it feels more like the "early front runners" stage.

Yea, that's insane. I almost think you should let FFG know. While it's true that MSRP is just MSRP, FFG has taken a stance on really controlling the price of their product. It usually means the other way, as in selling for too cheap, but they might do something about the store charging that much. It's not good for their image. That is one greedy loving store. What is the name of the store btw, so I can know never to shop there.

Edit: Apparently BattleFoam is releasing a line of carrying cases:

I had a 25% off thing they let me use so it wasn't quite that bad. Somewhere around $150 off the top of my head. It was still pretty lovely, but I had driven an hour from work to get there and the dude kind of convinced me that this might be it as far as stock goes. I regret it slightly. Unfortunately it also seems to be the only place in the area where a decent amount of people actually meet up and play on a regular basis, so I'm stuck going there.

If I show up for the Tuesday open play, find out he has plenty of stock and brought his price back down I'll just continue to play there but not actually spend any money. gently caress em.

Found out about this game on Monday, already built some virtual decks.

Just a heads up to everyone, new product for Awakenings has just been shipped. I live near the Twin Cities and was able to stop by the Fantasy Flight Game Center this morning to pickup a booster box and two starters ($100 booster, $15 starters). My LGS will have booster boxes tomorrow as well, so hopefully this shipment is going to everyone. I was talking to the FFGC General Manager as he was unboxing the shipment, he said this is likely the last printing of Awakenings until after Spirit of Rebellion comes out, but he didn't think this would be final printing.

Anyhow, ripped a Vader in my 5th pack so I'm already really excited.

ShowTime
Mar 28, 2005
This is not the final printing for awhile. They announced it would be shipped in 4 waves and this is only the 3rd. There will be 1 more sometime early February. This one was also quite large. My LGS got 9 when they were only getting 3 before. The people at the FFG have been wrong about Awakenings stuff before, as recently as the 2nd wave of this set.

MSRP is $107.64. Packs are $2.99 apiece at MSRP.

Since storage talk is a thing; I was looking at what Magic storage stuff I already owned and figured out that Ultra Pro Satin Towers are perfect for holding single decks. It holds a sleeved 30 card deck plus heroes alongside dice comfortably, with room for a few more cards/sleeves/a divider of some kind. That's eighteen dice in there, so three stacks of six, and you could add one more layer of six as long as you're careful about opening it.

I haven't browsed any other decks, but the first attempt I made at a deck (before even buying any cards) is with eLuke and Ackbar. I basically put anything that had discard-related actions, things like Scout, Close Quarters Assault, Commando Raid, Launch Bay, Mind Probe and then other cards to support it. No idea if it will work, but with the box I opened yesterday I got most of the non-Legendary components including Ackbar and Luke (on my final pack). I plan to play it a couple nights this week.

"And I did it, because I was a man who had exhausted reason and thus turned to magicks"
The Luke Ackbar deck seems to be coalescing atm into a very strong deck. The core is that Ackbar provides access to some strong cards like field medic and dug in which help keep Luke alive, and then Luke just rolls great dice and kills your opponent that way. The deck packs a lot of defense looking to endure past the blitz decks and win that way.

Knights of Ren have a version here.

Other options for the deck include All In and Force Manipulation.

Just dropped in a new store nearby that hit up the local FB group hard about how they've got a bunch of starters in stock. I came in to buy one of each as a gift, and the owner is chatting me up and tellling me about all the upcoming events and whatever.
Time to check out, he said "so I'm selling these for $20 each". I balked and said, in that case let's just get one of them.
He hemmed and hawed, and looked over at his well stocked display and said, "I guess I have a lot, I can do $15 each if you want both"

Thanks for selling me product at MSRP, guy.
This game is making people crazy

I mean I won't lie when I say that I was flabbergasted when I opened two booster boxes for in-store singles and added up the prices of the rares/legendaries and it totaled $487. But we also have roughly 30 people playing this thing locally so I'd be a fool to try and make a quick buck now when I could instead invest in the community and have it pay off long-term. It's sad that some shops don't see things that way.

That's different. Those acrylic tokens are available in tournament kits, which are only available to stores and are meant to be used for events. That's a little different than opening up boxes and selling singles. They are much, much rarer and FFG only sells them to stores with the intent to distribute them at events, not to sell them.
