I mean, I think it's like a solid 90% chance of it happening, but the chargers to LA has been an option Spanos had in his pocket for a year, with no remaining obstacles whatsoever. The Raiders to Vegas deal is not yet inked, which means it's not a sure thing.

But this is a football forum so I guess believing really hard in "sure things" irrespective of any sort of actual rational analysis is par for the course.

If it does happen, I expect someone will assure me that they were right all along that it was a sure thing, too.

The NFL is not going to turn down $700 million dollars of public money.

Rooting for 0-16 next year! If the whole city can go 0-32 that would be awesome.

What's the worst combined record for two teams sharing a city?

As well it should be. The dude was given a good chunk of free money by the NFL to build his stupid stadium and stay put. He chose to gently caress off to a city that doesn't want the team and a league that doesn't want the team in that city. It's mind blowing how big of a clusterfuck this is.

Sure there are other factors to talk about for major sports (especially worth and revenue) but I thought the attendance numbers were interesting.

The NHL has around twice as many total games in a season, and the tickets cost like 10x as much as MLS tickets.

I dunno if i'll root for another team right now. I'm just basking in awe at the backlash the Spanos family has finally received for 32 years of aggressively inept, moronic, clownish ownership. I love it. And as much as it might hurt for people who live in the city, i'm still proud of San Diego telling the Spanos family to get hosed.

Ratings are about the same or have increased this year from last year after the first few weeks were down -- we also had one of the most ridiculous election cycles in history that grabbed a LOT of attention -- and I'm sure the Super Bowl will have more viewers this year than ever before just like every other year.

What I don't get is how stupid they are for letting this happen. Like... did they not see how empty the stadium was at the end of the Rams season? Did they think that was just because they didn't have a loving star player there like Phillip Rivers?

Both of these teams are going to move again within a decade.
