I think he pissed off his ex by going to visit her at college when she didn't want to see him so she called the cops on him and he had a gun locked in his trunk on campus. My memory is lovely though.

Ah yes I remember when this hit the internet half a decade ago as some sort of thing like: "German tanks are the best, see how much Germans trust their ability to brake" and then people wrote these lengthy articles pointing out each little piece of the clip that shows it was photoshopped. It's weird how old poo poo like that tends to suddenly make the rounds again years later. Carbon dioxide fucked around with this message at 19:58 on Jan 13, 2017 |

Pretty sure I saw some TV show that said they tracked down the people and confirmed it's real, but they're using a telephoto lens or some such to make the tank look closer than it is.

If the tank was all composited in later, it seems weird that there'd be a few people nervously looking back though. Robs it of a lot of the badassness or whatever. THe lighting matchup is pretty incredible if it is completely fake... so yeah I'd agree with the practical effects solution before a composite image.

Yeah it looks like if you changed the camera angle you'd notice the tank stopped like 30' behind them.

One detail that makes it look more real is that a few of the guys nervously start looking behind them as they hear it approaching.

Film the people while the tank waits down the road. Move them off the road and film the tank stunt moments later. Boom, perfect lighting match. It was an overcast day. A couple of minutes of change is imperceptible.

It's also suspicious that the video appeared in early 2014, when the Dutch had disbanded their last tank regiment back in 2011. They still have a few Leopards around, apparently, but they are being sold off and aren't in active service. It seems very unlikely to be real.
