The entire DNC is at fault, hillary is at fault, bernie is too is so is the entire dumb as poo poo american population who still haven't figured out voting and voter registration. Almost every other country does it! I will admit my failings here, though: if I had moved to the US and applied for citizenship like 12 years ago, I could be an american citizen by now and would vote for bernie in the primaries and then whoever was the democrat candidate because I'm not a stupid piece of poo poo. Though sometimes even when you're not an american voting doesn't matter (because america will gently caress up your elections)

I dont know how many levels of irony the other posters here are on, but I truly believe that Bernie would have won. Hillary voters would have voted democratic anyway, while the DNC expected the same from Bernie supporters. Bernie supporters were mainly left-wing and/or youth votes, so an incredible amount just decided not to vote at all, because Hillary is a piece of poo poo. In other news: There's big riots all over mexico because the government is privatising the national oil company, leading to the price of a full tank being more expensive than a month's minimum wage

Take that, dad! Who stayed home? I know almost 20 Bernie supporters IRL and every last one of them voted for Hillary. I voted for Hillary. I encouraged everyone I know to vote for her. I spent all day driving people to the polls on November 8th. People under 35 overwhelmingly preferred Bernie to Hillary and people under 35 overwhelmingly voted for Hillary over Trump. Maybe you don't know what you're talking about?

I voted for Hillary even though I really, really dislike Hillary and think she's pretty much John Mccain, policy-wise. If Hillary was your ideal candidate, then you're either a secret Republican, a sexist, or an idiot. Blaming actual Democrats for your loss doesn't help whatever your cause is. Bernie would have won.

But Clinton still got more votes than Trump and lost anyway because your votes don't actually count.

Bernie supporters were mainly left-wing and/or youth votes, so an incredible amount just decided not to vote at all, because Hillary is a piece of poo poo. Would voter enthusiasm in the states Clinton lost for Bernie have tipped things? Would his more attractive rhetoric to working class people? His lack of association with Obama? How would him actually being a 'democratic socialist' (lol social democrat for real) have polled with people that think socialist is the same as a paedophile? About the only thing we can say is that Bernie was consistently a better candidate, with better positions and a more honest and inspired campaign. Integrity, for an American politician at least. The thing I enjoy the most about it really is that the liberals always whine and complain that the left has to compromise for victory, that if we move just a little bit more to the right, we will win election after election and now the Democrats have discovered what the social democrats in Europe have; you couldn't do fool people forever. And now they scream and whine and try to do anything but realize that they are the reason they lost. They are so loving bitter and desperatly flail to find anyone to blame. (that guy is just my fav go to guy but there's shitloads more) The Americans had a chance to try and do better and they were to cowardly to take even the incremental reformism Sanders offered and tbh, isn't the magic of democracy you get the government you deserve? These are the three heads of the new Icelandic government. In the middle you have Bjarni Ben, our prime minister, the former finance minister, who was in the Panama papers and has all but admitted to his tax evasion and delayed a report on the issue until after the election and has now been caught lying about it. He leads the largest party in my country, the Independence Party. The guy on the right is his cousin. He was supposed to the be new ~liberal party~ for those fed up with the corruption of the Independence party. So, of course, it was made up by insiders from that party, libertarian lunatics and other human garbage. They got more than the now dead Social democratic party in Iceland and promptly entered an alliance with the guy on the left. I don't really wanna talk about him or his party. Imagine if you took empty bourgeois liberalism, with all its focus on conspicuous consumption, empty rhetoric, focus on civility and appearances over substance and you'd have him and his supporters. They were also supposed to be against the Independence party and the guy rather embarrassingly tweeted at the last PM that "No person caught in a scandal like the Panama Papers should be PM". I hope this makes you Americans feel better, because everywhere in the world you will find worthless morons and garbage people willing to vote in clueless fuckwits and ruthless sociopaths, all the US has done is lead the way.

Hillary was my ideal candidate because Obama couldn't run for a third term and Joe Biden's son died. Also, my political views are petty solidly "what democrats thought back in the 90s." I didn't dislike Bernie, but I wasn't entirely sure I could trust him to not implement full communism.
