Actually, I was listening to them in reverse order (because Itunes), and I skipped back to the initial Caleb episode after hearing "Candyman IV: Curse of Caleb". I had to know what the backstory was. :allears:

From my sheltered perspective it's a bit surreal to hear audio versions of internet jokes that I would usually only encounter whilst perusing the hallowed halls of the SA Forums. I don't know if this means that I'm an old guy that only learns about internet jokes from SA or if is in fact SA doing the leaking. Presently I suspect it's a little of both.

I wouldn't be surprised if some people even wore them outside of events as some kind of badge of specialness.

Not just events. At a lot of think tank and government, especially defense, contractor jobs they are worn while at work. I was at a place for a bit where security would escort you out if you accidentally took off your lanyard and walked around the building.

that's gotta be this one right

quote:

So you're working out and getting buff so you are strong to do what?

"Getting women" as if they are objects to do what? gently caress them and forget about it? Some life. "Getting women" improves your social status amongst those who hi-five people for being "playa"s. Who gives a drat about being more social amongst those vapid wastes of food and employment?

Video games are a great way to have fun, and enjoy things that are availible to you in life. Not only this, but the making of a game is an art form - by playing through, say, an RPG, you are treated to a grand story that is just overwhelmingly more fufilling than going out, loving some chick, hi-fiving yourself and calling it a night.

You get the benefit of enjoying an experience that billions of people haven't already done to death. You get the benefit of enjoying an art form. Notice here that I am not approaching games as some h4rdc0r3 EL THREE THREE TEE jerk - I'm going about it in ways much like a movie buff would appreciate film. For tangible benefits, in competitive games, you are constantly pushed to not only complete a task, but learn to do it better and better. You learn to be quick on your feet, smart, and precise.

Oh, and popular television gives you a point of conversation with the lowest common denominator of people. And we all know that mediocrity is something to strive for, am I right?

That couldn't have come at a better time for me as I'm about 200 pages into Rick Perlstein's Before the Storm.

I'll ask this here: that book mentions John Birch Society founder Robert Welch once wrote, among other insane poo poo, an allegorical novel about a society of intelligent ants ruined by collectivism. Does that book exist anywhere? Also WHY WOULD YOU PICK A SPECIES OF INSECT WELL-KNOWN FOR EXISTING IN REGIMENTED COLONIES ENTIRELY SUBSERVIENT TO A SINGLE QUEEN AS YOUR METAPHOR FOR INDIVIDUALISM?

Nixonland was also really good at portraying Nixon as a pathetically insecure, sad little man, desperate for respect and power. He was almost kind of pitiful, if it weren't for the overwhelming evil and whatnot.

yea Nixon is a guy who I could almost feel bad for if he wasn't, ya know, an avatar of genuine evil on the face of the world.

Trump's the same way really. Abusive dad clearly left some hosed up scars with him, what with so much of his persona is trying to both be all 'I can be a normal guy still I swear I'm just like you' and try to force the old money crowd to like him by buying poo poo without ever understanding that he's the perfect embodiment of every old money stereotype of 'new money trash'. Like, he so clearly just wants someone to like him that he's trying to show off to two very widely different groups. That's something that should be sad but...nah because he's such a lovely person despite it.

they mentioned the Obama movie but I forgot if they did a proper episode like this on it. If not they really need to because it's even worse. Like they said at the very least even a complete fuckup like Dinesh can actually point to lovely things the Clintons did and call it an example of corruption and it not be wrong. The Obama one is purely 'his dad hated the empire, which means HE hates the empire, which means he hates all white people which means he wants to destroy America just out of spite!!!'
