I never played fates on my 3DS so I'm actually really stoked if they re-release it for Switch. I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Here are some bad things: the story is garbage, the characters are boring and revelation is a mess

The gameplay in Conquest is stellar though. Birthright is pretty good too.

I'm gonna have fun with my Switch, but it's going to come with the understanding that it will be like the 3DS or Wii U where almost nothing I give a poo poo about will appear until like 2019. But, with Ubi actually bothering to port a game, and a new Unreal Engine Shin Megami Tensei in the pipeline, I'm feeling pretty okay about third-party support.

Maybe we'll get a fancy HD Etrian Odyssey?

Basically I just wanna see all the crap I buy for 3DS, but now it's HD.

Quality does not sell video games. Hype and flashy effects do. Ever
notice how all the big gaming magazines (EGM, VG&CE, etc) always put
graphics and sound on equal footing with gameplay? There's just no way
for a newcomer to make a reasonably intelligent decision. Look at all
the ads which are brimming with fancy artwork which has absolutely
nothing to do with the game in question. And reviews which claim a
game is boring and repetitive and not at all fun but has neato special
effects and ends up with an 8 out of 10 rating. Yeesh.

This sort of nonsense is okay for $9 tapes or $6 movies or $5
paperbacks, but for a $60 game? I don't know how the industry
survives...

The switch will do just fine though.

Even if I only get like 3 games for this thing (Zelda, Stardew, Mario whatever) I'll be perfectly happy.

Can someone in the Nintendo Switch thread tell me what makes Fates so bad compared to Awakening? I keep hearing "the story is bad" and "Birthright is too easy", but as good as Awakening was, that game didn't exactly knock either of these two things out of the park (awakening's premise was cool but I stopped caring what was going on the last 10 or so chapters) . I assume there are more classes, feet, and more crazy 'shipping options, so I'm not sure what's the deal? I ask because I recently finished Awakening, loved it, and would love more FE fix but everything I read about Fates boils down to "it's not as good as Awakening"

its not SO BAD, comparatively, but the story is kind of stupid and like 80% of the bond conversations are persons x and y eating their favorite food together or whatever
