Intruder posted:Jesus dude do you exist solely to be mad about your team winning the WS? "Disagreeing with a managerial move" ==/== "mad about my team winning the WS" Yes, we won the WS. But it doesn't mean it was the best move to pitch Chapman so much in Game 6 or pull Hendricks in the 5th when he was cruising so Lester could come in and give up some runs right away. Everything worked out in the end, which is awesome. But the moves can still be debated and questioned. Personally, I think Joe got lucky. But it worked.

Single game management decisions in the playoffs are a crap shoot. It could just have easily been the right move and the Cubs sailed to an easy 6-0 win and no one would be talking about it. Getting mad months later over an ultimately inconsequential management move that *could* have turned out badly is pointless. Maddon makes mistakes like any manager, the point is like almost everything in baseball it matters over the course of a full season in which he is clearly a net positive. Who cares if he almost screwed up? It worked out and overall he's a good manager, would you rather see him replaced?

People tend to jump to conclusions and misinterpret things around here, especially when they feel like picking a fight, so I'll be more selective in my word choices. case in point... I remember being really mad that Joe decided go with a 3 man rotation for the World Series and start everyone on short rest when two of those pitchers were AJ Burnett and Old Andy Pettite. Then they won and I literally never have thought about it again until writing this post. Baseball is a game won on the margins. Managers make a ton of small decisions every game and they are only wrong if the team loses. Relief pitching is a crapshoot, a lot of the time there are literally no good choices so you're just going with the situation that you think is the least risky. What I'm trying to say, is Maddon did nothing wrong becuase the cubs won. That's all the matters you dolt. Paul Zuvella fucked around with this message at 18:44 on Jan 17, 2017 |

To be fair. the word pissed has a pretty specific connotation in the english language. "I still think his decision making late in the world series was poor, and he got bailed out by his players, but hey we won the world series so that was pretty cool right" Is probably the less angry sounding way to say that....

Sure, but all but the most level headed of people are irrational when in the throws of watching and being invested in a game that is currently going on. Like catch me during the wrong moment in a Bulls game and you might see me say something nice about MCW, Rondo or Doug McDermott. After the game you can take a step back look at the big picture and realize that they are all still trash.
