The Gleybar poo poo was so insufferable that it almost made me, a Yankees fan, want to see Gleybar bust horribly just for everyone to look like even more of an idiot

I'm secretly hoping the Cubs and the Yankees pull off some crazy trade at the deadline that inexplicably sends Adam Warren back to the Cubs, where he proceeds to suck horribly before the Cubs trade him right back next off season. Then the two teams continue to bounce him between each other until he retires.

I will interrupt the nth iteration of cubsanticubs chat to inform everyone that the Royals signed Danny Duffy for 5/65. That's likely a huge discount over what he would have gotten as a free agent and if he can stay healthy enough to put up 180 IPs a year it should be a really good deal. IF When he's on the dude is probably the best LHSP in baseball but he's usually only on for one game in three.

bawfuls posted:"Dan Duffy when he's on" > Clayton Kershaw, Chris Sale, David Price, Madison Bumgarner, Jon Lester, & Rich Hill Yes, if you just take Duffy's best starts he is better than any pitcher ever. Dude was like 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA when he was on last year bruh. bewbies posted:I'm on board as long as my avatar can feature his eye Bewbies, buddy, I love you. But Duffy has always outperformed his FIP. So even if Duffy pitches better than Urias you will probably lose man. alpha_destroy fucked around with this message at 21:20 on Jan 17, 2017 |

Do you want an innings minimum in case of catastrophic injury, or a hedge against Urias spending significant time in relief?

The Yankees, in a tight post season race and in need of a lockdown closer to put in after Betances, make a blockbuster trade with the Cubs that sends Torres and Castro back to the Cubs for Wade Davis, who is having 2016 Britton levels of success as the Cubs closer despite the Cubs themselves playing poorly due to regression and injuries. Since it's a WBC year, which despite all it's flaws, is still a cool thing, I decided to read over the preliminary rosters: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_World_Baseball_Classic_rosters Thoughts: 1) USA looks weak so far. It should be noted that Joe Torre is "GM" of this team 2) The DR and Puerto Rico are my initial favorites 3) Team Honkbal only features 2 players actually from the Netherlands where the rest are from their Caribbean counterparts (no surprise). 4) There are interesting and cool names emerging as managers. John McClaren is China's (?) manager, Omar Vizquel is Venezuela's manager, and Jim Leyland is managing the US. 5) Get ready to see players you haven't seen in awhile playing for some of the lesser known teams, like Jair Jurrjens, Sam Fuld and Ike Davis!
