Christ the mid engine thing was a bit of a laugh. IOwnCalculus posted:Isn't the front-mid sperglord argument something about the front of the crank being behind the front wheel centerline? Apparently it's just about the very idea of it haha. NitroSpazzz posted:Front-mid BS aside drat that's far back, really nice. How will you be dealing with oil pan clearance? From what I've seen LS engines have a deep sump at the front of the engine which would be an issue similar to what I'm running into on my swap. If you can mount it back that far you might be able to get away with just chopping the subframe and squeezing in behind the steering rack. Using a f body sump and a baffle setup. May consider dry sump in the future but it's serious serious money for anything "good". So much out there seems to be snake oil. Love cars me.

Thats terrible actually and the lovely oversize rims, stretched tires and bagzzz could probably pay for Bape's swap twice/thrice over.

I hate that kit and the idea of air. I can probably buy my touring car Intrax setup for the same price as that fibreglass! I have some friends at work designing me a custom time attack looking setup anyways. It'll be more fun than just buying mega expensive stuff from Japan that actually is shite but everyone on the internet loves. Hahahaha. Anyway my manifolds are built! Which is nice. A lad I know has just finished this: https://www.facebook.com/fraser.stark.16/posts/10209070080446794 I hope mine will be faster still 🤔 Bape Culture fucked around with this message at 16:48 on Nov 26, 2016 |

IMO the body kit and poo poo is terrible and I'm still not sold on air suspension for track use even though it's getting there. I just meant the super charger. Intrax makes some really nice stuff and is probably what I'd be going with if mine didn't already have pretty drat good stuff in there. Still may swap out to something more modern after running it for a while. Apparently the Gruppe N stuff on mine is highly sought after by people despite newer stuff being an improvement.

There's not so much to update as coordinating parts from Texas and Florida to the UK as you approach Christmas while you're sat on a beach in Mauritius is not the easiest! Manifolds are finished though! Here's a nice pic of Craig making em. MARRY CHRISTMAS!

Motor is BUILT! So that's a new insane cam, new race spec push rods, springs, retainers etc. Yay titanium! New baffled sump and all sealed up with ARP hardware. Exciting times! Hoping to have engine in by the end of this week.

I'm insanely new to LS motors so just went with general advice though tbh. Cop Porn Popper posted:What size throttle body? Stock 90mm? What specs on the cam? Yeah it's 90mm. Am I correct in thinking I'm not gonna see much improvement without doing the intake manifold at the same time? Just didn't have the extra cash for a Fast or similar and didn't want it to become an endless project. Cam is 235/239 .627"/.624" Which is the same my mate is running in his RX8. It's a great cam. Revs to 7k and made 550hp. Lots at the top end.

Lighter parts mean lower forces at a given rpm. As far as i know, the only issue with ti is having two moving ti parts touching. I hear a lot of c6 z06s have lunched the motor because of the ti rods galling on each other.

Just didn't have the extra cash for a Fast or similar and didn't want it to become an endless project. I think there's *some* benefit but honestly I'm not sure. I'm still running what is arguably the worst LSx induction setup. A FAST would be great but they really want a lot of money for those things. It's probably less relevant for you, but Dorman is supposedly working on a LS2 intake that should cost about 1/3 of a FAST, still has a big TB opening, and uses the old FAST 78 lower design that they licensed. Should be a decent upgrade for anyone running LS1, LS6, LS2, or truck intake manifolds.

He's finishing up some other projects now that I'll look at but he might swing by this weekend to take a look at mine and see what he thinks. I can handle plumbing, wiring and pretty much all the other stuff but I'm over my head with the fab stuff.

Yeah I've been waiting for the Dorman LS2 Intake since I read about it's development a year ago. i don't want to drop nearly a grand on the Fast LSX intake when the Dorman might be $300. I can't wait to see and hear the LS3 M3 running! Are those cf bumper replacements? How much weight does that save?

I was really curious about the titanium versus steel thing and decided to phone the local greybeard block wizard who doesn't have internet or a cellular phone. He does mostly race engines for circle track and said it all comes down to life expectancy. Titanium retainers are best for drag or road race motors with high lift cam(s) that like high rpm. That comes at a cost, because the steel spring is 30% harder than the titanium retainer it wears differently. He said to take off the heads each season and mic the retainers to check for wear. The fastest guys use them and replace every season, but for any endurance engine he recommended dual springs and steel retainers.

Right, we're getting achingly close now. Exhaust is all run and the entire oil system is primed. Wiring done. Gearbox linkage for the CAE setup done. Just waiting on a couple of sensors and gauges to arrive. You'll notice the CAE is mounted backwards compared to everyone else with a 46M. This is because of the Tremec box and it seems to integrate better this way! Decided to send my dampers off for a rebuild while everything was up in the air. So literally all that is left OE is the dashboard and shell, and even that's been modified haha. Looking a bit sorry for itself, but more like a car than it has in 3 months!! Excitement levels; Critical.

The FI guys tend to explode the dorman manifolds past a certain level of boost and denmah's making 900+whp on a stock manifold, stock throttle body, stock headers, stock everything basically. He maxed out a set of ridiculous injectors recently and thinks there is still more in it after upgrading the injectors. I'd stick with the stuff you got already till something limits you.

We're going to use the stock truck intake on the L33 350z because 1200 usd for 15 hp and a midrange torque loss isn't worth it.
