Honestly just plasti-dipping those wheels black would do wonders for the car.

I could see whitewalls, or some new modern variant appearing on something like the i3. The BMW I cars in particular seem to be trying everything possible to be "new" and change up styling norms. The only normal looking things are the tires.

I have to admit, that Explorer made me want to see how my car would look with Raised White Letters. But apparently nobody makes RWL tires in 265/35R20.

I wish the BFG Comp-2s had a RWL option. I've been contemplating painting the letters since I bought the drat things.

I found out they make white vinyl decals for use with certain tires, like the Michelin pss which I've recently bought. I'm tempted just to see what it'll look like, but not sure how vinyl will hold up.

You could cut all sorts of shapes into them. It would be a much cooler fashion statement than stancing and all that other rot.

There's a Chrysler Crossfire with RWL tires on it running around my neighborhood, and it's still not hateable. The rest of the garbage stick on crap on the car (and the car itself) still is, though.

Yes, this sets a worrying precedent and the sentence was for too harsh compared to what other people got. But while I was reading the article and thinking about it, I started forming arguments I would have used as prosecutor. Somewhere there is a line between selling a product to honest citizens that drug smugglers would have use too and a product for drug smugglers that some weirdo honest citizens might also buy, and I feel Anaya was firmly on the wrong side of that line. Sure, many people could have a use for secret compartment for wallets and guns and whatnot, but what they need is a compartment they can open in 5 seconds and that takes more than 15 seconds for a crackhead to find. The only people who need a compartment that can survive a long search by K9 unit are drug smugglers and showoffs that have few grand that they can't fit in the wallet. As a rule of thumb make a list of your customers, imagine which of them could be in the drug industry and if you come up with more than 10%, stop what you are doing.

They weren't prosecuting him because he built hidden storage compartments. They were prosecuting him because he refused to snitch on people that probably would have hacked his family up into tiny little bits. The fed doesn't take kindly to being told no.

I seem to recall somebody buying a car that West Coast Customs had built and it was full of secret compartments. They were later arrested for using it to smuggle drugs.

If so, that's dangerously close to the playground "if I walk toward you windmilling my arms, it's your fault if you get hit because you didn't get out the way" logic. I appreciate that drug dealing is some pretty bad poo poo done by pretty bad people, but as a society we should be very wary of potential unintended consequences of expanding what can be done to tackle it. If he did not commit a crime beyond carrying out a job (which was perfectly legal in and of itself) for people who were going to use it for illegal purposes and paid him with earnings of the same, I believe it is wrong for him to be done for it. Especially when "sorry, I'd rather not do business with you" results in the aformentioned family-in-tiny-bits scenario.
