straight up brolic posted:loving this video of ronaldinho absolutely humiliating other stars That guy was beyond amazing at his peak. Might be my old age/rose-colored glasses but in the last 20 years or so, aside from (og) Ronaldo, I can't think of another offensive player who has as much impact on a new side the first 2 years of his transfer (although I'm sure there's several I'm forgetting, Zidane or Torres maybe come close?). He was simply unplayable in so many matches. Except when Arbeloa put him in his pocket during his 1st CL game and he got Brazilian Fat partying and banging sloots. Also who can forget one of the other times he embarrassed England players: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=?0oq974EmpBo RIP Ronaldinho and your original terrible, terrible teeth.

It's also cool he got a standing ovation from the Real Madrid fans in one of the Clasico's when he was playing for Barcelona.

straight up brolic posted:Florent Malouda, Ferreira, and Joe Cole...galacticos I think you're getting Ferreira and Carvalho mixed up. And Joe Cole could definitely be a galactico in the same way Michael Owen or Walter Samuel were. Malouda is the Graveson of the bunch, even if he was pretty good for a season or two. I just thought it was interesting because it's a photo of 9 of maybe the biggest 50 or 100 names to ever play in the premier league.

Malouda is the Graveson of the bunch, even if he was pretty good for a season or two. Michael Owen was a ballon d'or winner, joe cole was one of the biggest frauds in English football history. The galacticos were the galacticos because RM went out to deliberately sign players who would be in the "world best XI" and paid huge sums for them - they made their reputations as the best elsewhere then Madrid signed them as a ready made dream team. That Chelsea side, while excellent, has only a few players (Cole, Ballack) who were bought as the best "ready made". Even Drogba was a work in progress when you bought him, despite the price tag

It's still as close as any premier league club has ever come to having a side full of world famous footballers. There have certainly been better performing sides, but that XI is straight out of some kid's FM or FIFA save.

Man united's treble side for one, Arsenal's invicibles for another had more more famous footallers than that chelsea side
