Miranda has a solid, complete arc in ME2 and then just kind of... shows up for ME3. You can see a lot of the logistical problems with attempting to write characters over the course of three games where their actions and even whether they're alive or dead are in question. Liara has the same thing going on in ME2 where the bulk of her character development comes in an intercessional DLC, and then she contributes almost nothing to driving the plot in ME3 besides repeatedly getting owned by Javik. Two characters who really should have had their arcs closed off in the second game, but because we have to bring everybody back for callback purposes, they're still around, asking Shepard to do stuff. Meanwhile Jack had a really nice resolution to her character, as did Mordin and Samara, so it's a mixed bag.

I like that if you're enough of a monster to kill Mordin, the cutscene gun you use to do it changes from the typical Predator to the Carnifax, the one that he gives you in ME2. The campaign really peaked at Tuchanka.

Agreed. In general I liked what the did with the returning characters, but some just didn't really go anywhere. Like Kasumi, Zaeed, Ashley (not Kaiden, because he kind of grew a personality), and especially Jacob who remained as boring as ever.

Jack was a really good returning character. Jacob was a really dumb returning character. Thane died, so at least that part was okay. I don't actually remember Kasumi in 3 - oh wait, I remember her being invisible against the other spectre...meh.

All of the Mass Effect games have ended up with MA 15+ here in Australia, while Witcher 3 got a R18+ classification because of 'high impact' sex. So that should give a baseline comparison for Andromeda's sex scenes and level of nudity.

The original I got those quotes from was written by a guy named Kevin McCullough (who I can only imagine has retired to play that Skyrim mod with the mile-long sex flowchart), but then a radio show host named Cooper Lawrence continued to crusade against the evil perpetrated by their imaginary sex game. Fox News was completely convinced it was pornography until they actually watched the scene in question. Then Lawrence admitted episodes of Lost were more obscene, but still claimed it was a game about male sexual conquest (ignoring the fact that you can play a woman and do the exact same thing).

This is actually the best trailer to use as a comparison. Compare it to the ME3 launch trailer. The ME2 trailer feels far more confident with Heart of Courage being a perfect track. EA's attempt to recapture that magic with Protectors of the Earth didn't work nearly as well, much less a lot of the footage they used. Overall, the ME2 trailer feels like it has much more coherent sequencing (focus on Shepard, his companions and the antagonist) and is confident of that than ME3 (lets include random shots of C-Sec grunts and random Reaper mooks falling over) which has a lot more bombast and spectacle. Can't quite compare it to Andromeda yet as both of these came out, IIRC, the week of their respective releases but the point is still there to think about.

So Andromeda will have "moderate impact nudity" and "strong impact sex", while Witcher 3 had "strong impact nudity" and "high impact sex", a step up in both categories. At least that means Bioware won't try to score points with the audience for having the most graphic sex ever. Hopefully they rather used the graphic design time to improve the facial animations.

Looks like the ratings are the same as DA:I.

But like someone said, the ESRB rating description will be fun because it gave us this: The game includes some sexual material: a female character briefly depicted in front of a man's torso (fellatio is implied); characters depicted topless or with exposed buttocks while lying in bed or after sex; some dialogue referencing sex/sexuality (e.g., “'I will bring myself sexual pleasure later, while thinking about this with great respect'” and “The way your t*ts bounce when I pin your arms and take you on the side of the bed…”). The words “f**k,” “sh*t,” and “a*shole” appear in dialogue.
