On a similar note - The Inception BWOOOOM music is a slowed down Version of that Edith Piaf song they use. And the celebratory music at the end of The Phantom Menace is a faster, jolly version of the original Emperor theme https://youtu.be/mOQBu-0N0ag And the weird warbly sound that the Game cube made was a slowed down version of the NES jingle. This concludes every fact I know about messing around with music speed.

Mozart did something similar - one of his duets was just one sheet of music, you just turned it upside down for the second voice. So you could have two people playing from one sheet if you put it on the table between them like so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M8QIaV9ilWc

The handhelds have had splash screens since the Game Boy but the Game Cube was the first of their consoles to have a standardized one, I thought.

There's a whoooooole ton of subtle moments in Rogue One, so many that a bunch of guys who worked on the film got disappointed that the fans hadn't noticed a bunch of the stuff they put in there so they've made this video to point them out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7AuVg8OL3A At one point an Imperial officer walks onto screen and tells Tarkin about the situation on Scarif, turns out the filmmakers found a guy who looks exactly the same as a guy who was in the background of the Death Star conference table scene in A New Hope back in '77.

The subtle thing was that it was the droid from a kid's show set before Rogue One, and because the people on the couch work on that kid's show they expanded on the cameo with an anecdote about how they got to participate in the movie.

Taeke posted:I watched the Sense8 Christmas special the other day, and just now double checked something that I thought I'd noticed but wasn't sure of. Spoilers ahead: Well, when the series started, they had no idea what was going on, then slowly learned how to visit intentionally rather than accidentally, how to hop behind the controls when someone needed help, and then how to collaborate among multiple sensates remotely using those skills (see: helping Nomi escape). I think the point they were trying to illustrate is that they're refining their skills even further and that we are gonna see some crazy new abilities in the next season.

I just greased up and watched Super again and it took a lot of viewings to realize that it has both Ellen Page and Linda Cardellini playing two different characters. I thought it was all Ellen Page being a stalker working 2 jobs to stalk the guy. Also least favorite is still a favorite: the title role was originally written for John C. Reilly. He plays crazy better. The role was more crazy than depressed, which the actor Riann Wilson always looks.

Just rewatched Mousehunt for the first time in a while, and I'd forgotten how little time is wasted in that movie. There is a scene in the beginning where Nathan Lane and Lee Evans find out that the house that they've inherited was built by an architect called Charles Lyle Larou, and instead of just having exposition when explaining that he was a big deal before he was committed (which makes the house very desirable with a huge potential for a large turnover if auctioned), they just have different characters reacting to the name in escalating tones: Main characters: Charles Lyle Larou? Librarian: *Looking up the name and pointing out the correct section* Charles Lyle Larou Architectural Scholar: *Looking at the blueprints in the parlour of the house, stunned* Charles Lyle Larou! Charles Lyle Larou! I'm standing, in a house, built by Charles Lyle Larou~ Also some clever callbacks, like with (being played by Christopher Walken) Caesar the exterminator's fate: When they are first being left the house in the will, the executor states that the previous owner was found locked in the trunk in the attic. This is exactly what the mouse will later do to Caesar, he is also found in the same trunk, gibbering insanely after the mouse does... untoward things to him that only are mentioned in a recording on Caesars cassette player ("What are you doing... put that down... right now... that tickles..." is a direct quote). I also like the visual gags with the deranged Catzilla, aka Fluffy, as he fails to capture the mouse also. This amazing scene is a direct allusion to Tom and Jerry, the entire movie is essentially that, but this scene is wonderfully direct: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOvJ4UFPjzA I also love the effect of them blowing up the floor by accidentally shooting a bug bomb powerful enough that it also works on mice that was lost by Caesar. It doesn't just explode, there is a corona of flame that forms the shape of the crater before it all just falls straight down. The effect has a hell of a punch - Here is the clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8I5_zsRI4Zo I love this dumb movie so much.

Greatest movie I've watched in a long time, I hadn't even heard of it until I was shotgunning some youtube movie critic content just for the heck of it. Such a niche film but it hit me right in the gut since it's so up my alley in a number of ways.
