Did Sig Sauer get a retired general on their board of directors? Because that's normally how these things are decided. Also: Mike-o posted:should have been a Glock 19 so more idiots would accidentally off themselves because they don't understand trigger discipline I fully endorse this idea.

TPSDude posted:You guys joke about porn malware, but the afghan artillery officers who maintained control over the whatever D30 howitzer ballistic calculator we gave them did this regularly. The device was just a pda that ran an app, they used it on the side to browse porn off the MWR's wi-fi. Several times we asked them to use the thing only for them to say it wasn't working and under closer scrutiny was under some ransomware lockout or chugging from all the zombie programs running on it. I cant wait for some Afghan kid to find an exploit and end up taking control of the system that should have never been used outside of a local network. Imagine those headlines.

My M9 in Afghanistan was so hosed up that I had to aim OFF the target sheet in order to actually get rounds on it while qualifying. I didn't even bother bringing it with me when I left BAF. e: Love my Sig 226. Wish I could have carried that on me instead.

My dad gave me a 92fs when I was a kid, and I put some serious rounds through that thing shooting competitively. Had drat near every part replaced at least once after 8 years and he had it for another 7 until he sold it. Used it for shooting pigs to shooting paper. Goddamn that was a good gun. Even after all that use it was in way better condition than the best M9 I ever saw. I'd buy a 92g tomorrow if I had a need.

We got to rotate through qualifying with those two until everyone was done that needed it, except the sights weren't zeroed so it was more guesswork than anything else

I was made to OIC an M9 range. All but 4 of them were still in reset. 1 of the 4 came back from reset deadlined somehow. One broke on the first firing iteration. It sure is loving fun doing a range for 50-ish people with 2 working firearms in a cold drizzle. And of course the fact that they were all in reset was my fault and not the fault of the higher ups who demanded that the range shall go on despite knowing for about 2 months prior that they'd be in reset.

There are other factors, but I doubt quality of ammunition and I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt on user error. What's fun is when a locking block breaks.

Hey so what's the selling points of the P320? I hate the internet for gun stuff it's either marketing bullshit or places that never give a bad review or internet hive mind bullshit.
|
# ? Jan 21, 2017 00:42 |
|
The P320 is touted as a totally modular handgun. The basic design is such that the actual firearm is just a small chassis (trigger pack, really) which holds the working bits. That entire chassis can be lifted out of the frame and swapped into other frames of various sizes. The slide assemblies are also obviously interchangeable. Basically, it just makes swapping parts around trivially easy, and thus be adapted for different people and different purposes.

There's some good YouTube gun channels like hickock45, he's an awesome grandpa that just likes to shoot guns in his backyard range and does unbiased reviews.

Also I partially retract my previous statement about the g19 because I'm kind of rusty in my gun knowledge and apparently the P320 doesn't have a safety. But I only partially retract that statement because I'm sure the army will require the model they get have an integral safety. People will still manage to ND though. Especially fobbit officers.

The amount of pressure it takes to pull the trigger on a Sig in double action mode is substantial. With that being said, I've seen soldiers pull a ND in the most perplexing of circumstances so I mean.

On a traditional DA/SA Sig, sure. This one is striker fired, like a Glock. I keep hearing that the trigger is actually nicer than the Glock, but I've never handled one. Only seen one show up at a shooting match once in the past three years.
