Leather seats are great if you have kids. Or generally tend to spill and squirt fluids around.

What was that Fiat segment? "Faster" than a miata with a 0-60 of 6.8s and lower top speed? That made a huge boner!

I watched the Top Gear episode where they have to make the scirocco ad and TGT seems to be an extension of that bit over a whole show. Starts off funny and then goes on forever with no real purpose and ending.

I loved the episode. I was surprised they didn't break down more often. I was expecting Leyland-levels of hilarity.

The prices of them in Australia are completely stupid though at around AUD$200k What was that particular variant of Biturbo in the episode? The only one I see for sale here doesn't have the aero package and looks like the other two cars in the segment.

Humphreys posted:I feel bad for liking the looks of the Biturbo I always liked the Biturbo. Came drat close to buying one around 20 years ago but by that point I learned a few things in life in regards to the more rarer cars are money pits based on previous stupid purchases. Wish I could remember the price and the year. Was probably late 80's and $6K or so. For the Maserati enthusiast, they are definitely looked down upon.

When Clarkson said "British soil" and May started leisurely driving somewhere else I immediately thought it was going to be him driving to the UK embassy in Paris (which is not British soil but a common misconception). But oh, it was just a dumb stunt instead. Sigh. At least the music game was pretty on point this week. Data Graham posted:I don't. So what were the cars used for the reef segment? Obviously a landy, a peugeot 206 hatchback, I think the one between them was a 406 saloon? No idea about the 4th one.

Antti posted:But oh, it was just a dumb stunt instead. Sigh. Yeah this was super disappointing. The first 50 minutes were a great episode of basically classic top gear, then it was all undercut by the last 10 minutes. I get that it's all scripted, I just wish this series (and the final few top gear) weren't so transparent about it and tried to maintain some realism. Final 10 minutes aside though, great episode.

According to the Amazon x-ray feature, the four cars are a Vauxhall Corsa, Peugeot 206, Peugeot 306, and a Land Rover Series II.

I'm sure I've even seen that same stunt before on Top Gear. Jeremy wanted to get a ferry, it was obviously not gonna work, he POWERRRRRed towards the edge anyway, cut to car flying in the harbor. That ring a bell with anyone else?

I guess cloth is ok if you're getting a new car, but for those of us shopping used and high mileage, old cloth seats are gross and stained up. My 128 had fake leather and I liked it.

I actually liked the last 10 minutes the most because it was the most structured of the 'challenges'. A lot of the Grand Tour segments are the trio driving around not doing anything interesting or talking about the cars, and the new writing isn't as good as TGs. The reef segment was pretty dull. The Alfa review was good but I wish they had included the shootout with the XE because the latter isn't getting much media coverage and seems to be reviewing really well; Jag making a real 3 series contender is truly interesting.
