Jews fleeing the Holocaust are not in any way comparable to North Africans, who don't flee genocide but want to enjoy the social welfare systems of Northern Europe.

Edit: Also, Valls said that Hamon might be soft on radical Islamism. And a former minister who backs Valls said (anonymously) that Hamon is the candidate of the Muslim Brotherhood. I'm not sure why the Trump supporters are even bothering.

So a group of 4chan trolls are organizing themselves on Discord to coordinate the posting of anti-Fillon memes? You'd probably get 90% of the DnD posters to chip in if they believed that it would make a difference, because they hate Fillon too.

Reading this thread has convinced me that French voters can't be trusted to make sensible decisions so it's good that someone is taking the lead.

Is that really a smart idea in a self-selecting primary for people who are ostensibly left wing?

Is there any difference between LePen and Fillon that makes the other winning notably less terrible? I haven't been following too closely but both seem absolutely awful.

I've got a couple ofValls supporters on my Facebook friends list and needless to say they're getting antsy as gently caress. One of them is on Valls' campaign, and she's currently posting childish insults directed at Hamon. The other, who is a gross opportunist, has deleted his entire facebook feed from after november 2016. It's hilarious.

Just a little over a month ago, Valls was the most unpopular prime minister of the last couple decades. Now he's trying to run for the presidency as France's only hope. He's an rear end in a top hat and a goddamn idiot.

You're not thinking like a Trump (or Le Pen) supporter. Fillon is still part of "the establishment" and so they hate him.

I really don't think it's like that at all. Valls is hosed because he was a lovely prime minister until a month ago. This is Valls right now:

Le Pen flat out takes money from Russian supporters and banks while Fillon is just a former buddy of Putin's. Le Pen wants to do away with the EU entirely while Fillon supports European co-operation.

Trump and Paul Ryan is a pretty apt comparison. And the answer should be Paul Ryan for everyone by now, I think.

My French friends, if both are equally horrible for the French, please at least pick the one that is less horrible for the rest of Europe as a whole.

Oh, they would! If only for the fact that they could not find harsher words for Macron himself, the traitorous gravedigger for the Left who dared disregard the democratic process by not entering the primaries.
I fully expect one of them to fully go for Fillon out of spite.

Hamon is, first and foremost, a Party guy. First ever president of the PS' youth organization, he's been one of Martine Aubry's people for a solid while. He's had disagreements with the leadership, due to him being against the Rome and Lisbon treaties, and his disagreements with Hollande and Valls are fairly well publicized, but, he's still very much a party guy, who, along with Montebourg, actually got Hollande to push Ayrault out to make Valls prime minister. Maybe not his finest hour.

His views are fairly consistent, and he's trying to position himself as a Corbyn/Sanders type, which sounds good, or at the very least better than Valls screaming about the muslims for hours on end.
