It all started because I said Uncharted is the best exclusive on the PS4 because it is more accessible to a general audience. I didn't even say BB was a bad game. I said they were the two best games, but one was better because more people would like it. Souls fans are very strange and protective.

It doesn't matter whether what you said was bad or good it was a lazy way to try and defend uncharted mediocre gameplay.

Clean your PS4, get a can of air or something and get the dust off your fans.
Even if it's only a little bit it'll help.

Sorry if pointing out people being wrong gets to you.

Could you explain how the boss fights are different between BB and the rest of the souls games?

I know the trash mobs are different in that you want to be aggressive rather than slow and deliberate. But the boss fights? Aren't those pretty much the same?

In terms of the controls. Are the games all pretty much the same? Or is there something different in BB? Same basic control scheme, right? Just a different strategy?

Since you are an expert, please explain to me how these games are all so different.

Not trying to be an rear end (this time) but I genuinely want to know what is so different. If I were to go down a list of checkboxes, I check almost everything the same in each except the one for how to deal with trash mobs. And I guess setting, but the setting still feels the same as the other games.

Different strategy is insanely important to whether a game is different or not.

I actually prefer the slower paced defensive oriented Souls game or the more aggressive in your face bloodborne. 3 is faster paced but a lot of the mechanics in bloodborne are designed to push you towards aggressiveness which 3 doesn't have.

I mean they aren't radically different but they definitely arent the same.

The entirety of Bloodborne is a tempered, paced aggression. Boss fights are no different from trash mobs in that sense.

That said, I also don't think it's that different from a normal souls game. It's basically just a faster version of the shieldless playstyle.

For people who regularly buy games at or near release, how much do you estimate you spend a month and do you manage to play all those releases without building up a backlog? I'm trying to get a feel for the value of my Gamefly subscription in comparison. I've been sticking with it since it allows me to play releases around the time people are having conversations about them, and there's a kind of incentive to play more and thus get more value out of it, even thought it produces some surface-level weirdness like the fact I paid $75 to play Knack. Also I don't really ascribe any value to owning physical media. I suppose I could do the whole trade-in/eBay thing to bring the costs of buying down, but that's still extra effort

I will preface this with saying that I don't agree that BB isn't a Souls game. It totally is:

Bloodborne's fights are, like the trash mobs, designed with way more aggression in mind. DS usually has slower and more methodical boss fights and the fast-paced ones are designed with more tanking and blocking options in play. A good Bloodborne fight is basically constant nonstop attacking and dodging in a way DS rarely is.(Though DS3 is closer at times for obvious reasons.) They really do feel a lot different, at least to me.

i have a post about this on the first page of the ps store thread. right now in 2017 doing prime preorders and amazon trade ins i've gotten like 500 dollars worth of games for 150 and yeah i beat all the games i buy for the most part cause i just chip away at them all an hour here an hour there until they are gone and rarely replay unless they are special.

Backlogs are inevitable if you have a full time job and don't want to spend all your free time playing videogames. gently caress services like gamefly and boomerang though, there is a certain joy to be had from physically collecting videogames.

I love gamefly because I get to play a lot of games that I wouldn't get to otherwise. I've kept some games, beaten and sent back most, and played a LOT more games than I used to while spending less money total than I used to.

I'd say you probably need to play at least 10 hours of console games a month for it to be worth it. Any less, and you might as well just buy a game every couple of months.

Blowin' up da moon.
In Bloodborne you shoot a gun. In Dark Souls you swat away swords with your shield. Bloodborne also has less items to equip and more Elder Gods.

After I finished Bloodborne for the second time I wanted to get in on some more Bloodborne so I bought Scholar of the First Sin on PS4. It was pretty cool but I didn't like it as much as BB. Then Dark Souls 3 came out and my needs were met.

I refuse to move forward until I get gold in the first timed challenge in the Marketplace. I did recently upgrade my stats but I know I still got more training to do before I'm a true gravity queen again. I'm still not sure how to charge my projectiles right to take down multiple enemies at once.

Everything leading up to that one on one fight with that dude's brother was a little much if you don't have any interest in Kat and frens. Though I thought the first person opening was pretty cool.

VVVVV I stopped at fourth or third place on TF2 and was satisfied. Gravity Rush challenges are way easier.

I spent an hour running the training course in Titanfall 2. Before that, my most egregious compulsive gaming moment was trying to do the jump rope challenge at the beginning of FF9.

Both Giant Bomb and Waypoint's impressions were like, "So this game is about Class War" so Gravity Rush 2 sounds like totally my jam

There must be a YouTube summary available, there is always one of those

Edit: I looked at the Wikipedia synopsis, and like most anime summaries, it reads like word salad

Is there really that much to say about 1? Girl wakes up with no memories and super powers, has wacky adventures and saves the town from monsters. The game doesn't even make much progress on the memories or super powers mysteries, other than that there is some ancient god civilization because of course there is.

Edit: maybe there's more but I forgot because I'm not THAT into the intricacies of super powered girls fight monsters and save the city stories.
