Seconding this Makita Impact--it's great in every way. It's incredibly small so you can use it drat near anywhere, especially in tight wheel wells, it's brushless so the battery lasts forever, and it's even got adjustable torque through adjustable speed, which means you can rattle on stuff without worrying about over-torquing it or dicking around with torque sticks.

I personally wouldn't gently caress with Ryobi over Makita/Milwaukee/Dewalt battery tools. It's not that much cheaper, and you're getting far better tools and variety, especially with Makita or Milwaukee. Now is a great time to buy a 5-6 piece starter pack for a couple hundred, and build up your cordless arsenal from there.

I finally caved and bought this impact. It's loving great. Lugs popped right off, brake calipers, ditto... Installed the new front hitch on my truck with nothing but this and 2 sockets.

I started making brackets to hang all my Makita stuff in a spot where I had a cabinet previously. I've got a lot of Makita tools...

I was testing the fit of the holder for my jigsaw (using the jigsaw, of course) when I kind of got my finger between the blade retainer and the shoe, and hit the trigger... which resulted in:

Angle was from McMaster Carr. I use it for other stuff, and actually just ordered 10 more feet. It's kind of a pain to machine, needs lots of pressure and low speeds or else it melts. Delrin is nicer, but much more expensive. The project is on hold until my wife is around to help.

Meatpimp, I don't think Milwaukee will care. I've only got a few of their tools.

I am so paranoid about power saws going off accidentally. I don't have a jigsaw but I use a sawzall (well the DeWalt version) all the time, and I'm religious about making sure either the battery is out, or the trigger lock is on. Even then I grab the blade with two fingers with my hand on the dull side, and my other hand is nowhere near the trigger. Get in the habit of having more than one safety, and then when you're in a hurry and skip a step then you're still covered.

That being said one time I took a 3" zip disk to the forehead because I was using it on a die grinder with no guard and I wasn't wearing a face shield. 6 stitches and 2.5 years later and I still have a nice scar there. Some people just need a hospital trip before they learn to take safety seriously.

Buddy was worried about the cheapo hf angle grinder murdering him while we chopped the old exhaust out of his car, so he stuck to trying to use the dremel. A dremel he rolled over on top of and managed to turn on. Luckily he was in a heavy cotton blend work shirt, with a t-shirt under that and an a frame shirt under that and the cutting wheel was cracked in half by him rolling on top of it. By the time it shredded through three layers of cloth, the rest of the blade had snapped off and the remaining bits were tangled in cloth. He barely had a red mark. He stuck to the angle grinder after that. :v:

I hit my finger with the spinning cutting wheel of a Dremel and it just shattered the disc, not even cutting a layer of skin. Got super lucky.

I also had a disc break, bounce off a wall, and hit me in the nose. Also super lucky about that one.

I should just not use Dremels. At least the cutting discs.

Well this time it didn't stop.
Whatever it was that held it from opening more than 45° broke it flung open to about 270° and the thing did a full backflip in the process. It landed so that it was open 180°, the blade was dug into the pavement and the cutting surface was also face down on the pavement with the feet facing up.

I've got a tool similar to this for that type of work. Virtually noiseless, no sparks, no electrical / air power required, extremely clean 90 degree cut, usable in very close quarters, no chance of slipping and loving up something you didn't want to cut, also no chance of cutting at a wonky angle or anything. Cuts through mild steel exhaust piping in a matter of a few minutes probably. It doesn't do anything else, but it does the job it was made for very well.

I can't even imagine using a teeny Dremel wheel on an exhaust pipe. Even a regular hacksaw would be better. I guess if it was all you had...

I've been trying to post for the last 10 minutes but I've been laughing too hard to type.

Rule of thumb for casters is that the minimum weight of EACH caster should be able to support the entire weight of the machine.
Mostly because casters are cheap as gently caress, so why not go overboard? Also the first time you hit a bump... RIP.

Also, check local industrial auctions for piles of old service carts. They sometimes go for peanuts and often have 4-6 beefy as all gently caress castors underneath.

Be weary though because there are also often 2 ton metalworking machines that also go for peanuts and are just begging you to take them home.
