Using Now TV means you can get access to the Sky exclusive races for ~£80, and to all the race weekends for ~£120.

Last I checked, a Sky Sports contract required significantly more than that.

I live in Detroit. The areas where the course ran are in better shape than they were in the 80's. Downtown as a whole has improved a ton.

I can't see a Vegas street race happening for a while. They just approved money for building a new football stadium and I can't imagine they're going to raise taxes even more for a temporary street circuit.

No one in this house watches TV anymore other than the F1*. Having to pay for all the other channels for the privalage of paying for sky sports, when the option to stream just the sky sports channels with contract free passes exists, is insane. Streaming quality is halfway between Sky's SD and HD, but tbh on a tablet it's the same as HD.

*No not even netflix or amazon prime.

This kind of monopoly is why the viewing figures have gone down, and I hope it is addrssed. We ditched Sky a long time ago and dont mind too much waiting for C4s coverage.
That NowTV sub sounds interesting though. I wonder if Amazon Prime does something similer?

Hopefully this means an axe to the tire rules. I said it before, but the current nonsense where one car has to concede a fight with another because the other guy pitted 3 laps before, making a defense a foregone conclusion and a waste of tires, is nonsense.

NowTV became what used to be SkyPlayer. It's a pretty neat service if you have decent broadband, plus it's available on a wide variety of IPTV boxes. I have it on my Roku which means I have access to pretty much every streaming and catch up service in the UK through one box. Only having to pay for Sky Sports during the F1 season makes a poo poo ton of sense compared to getting scalped by Sky for their most basic of packages.

The requirements for each type of track are pretty different. I'm not surprised that they can fit a Formula E race into Brooklyn, but I'd be pretty surprised if they could fit an F1 track in NYC. Where would you put the runoff areas?

No, unfortunately the app isn't compatible wth Amazon's devices yet. The box is tiny, and if you get the old box from amazon they are throwing it in with the entertainment packages for free. One pass lets you watch on two devices at once so I have it on the now TV box and the ipad for when more tea is required.

Formula E is effectively an entire racing series of that Las Vegas Caesars Palace parking lot track, (and is about as fast around a track as a E36 m3 so they dont need lots of runoff area.)

Biggest problem with the engines isn't the noise or how complicated they are, it's how fucknuts stupid the engine development token rules were. If there were no tokens then engine parity could have been a thing in the second year, just like it always is, and no one would have given a drat if they were hybrid or V16.

Maybe, maybe not, maybe I don't care, but the point is that he's suggested all the aero changes are pointless and won't have any impact on the racing...then made an alternative suggestion that, provably, can't ever have any impact on the racing.

The American ads that tell you to "ask your doctor about medication x today" are really weird to me.

They're weird to us, too. We can thank the government for this malarkey.

Regulations changed the way Big PHARMA and Doctors could interact. It used to be that Pharmacy reps would visit, wine and dine doctors to get them to prescribe their drugs. As a Rep, it was lucrative pay and basically you got to play a lot of golf and eat at expensive places like Per Se. Government stepped in and said it was essentially bribery and to knock it off. So instead they just decided to advertise directly to the public to get their all mighty dollar.
