Trainers are still a thing today for recent games, it's not an old esoteric thing, just shoved out of the limelight a bit

Great.

I had to figure out what a trainer was by inference, since I got my warez through questionable web sites rather than questionable acquaintances. I first came across a Diablo trainer that promised lots of gold or loot or something and I immediately thought it was some sort of robot software that automated playing the game for you while you slept so you could have a really powerful character when you woke up. My next thought was, "Isn't that the game, though? Why would you want to avoid playing the game?"

Gonna go listen to keygenmusic.net for a li'l bit.

Does Cheat Engine do what Game Wizard used to do on dos games: let you enter two values ie your hit points before/after fights to find the relevant code and change/lock it?

Ask me about flying an imperial courier with a large plasma accelerator

vv neat, thanks

Yeah, it's a memory editor. Can also do injection stuff if you're feeling daring.

Oh my, Ignition! Lots of fond split-screen memories with this one. It had pretty great handling, with lots of diversity between vehicles. Maps had these action elements to them, where you could get crushed by trains, flipped by geysers or flattened by boulders (causing your steering to reverse). I have the original box standing in my bookcase, but I have no idea if it runs on Win10. Probably not, so this is great.

Perhaps not easy, but King of Dragon Pass. Chill music, no stress. A bit like being a bureaucrat in the bronze age, with weird-rear end religious myths to follow instead of legal texts.

Management games other than Roller Coaster Tycoon and Sim City perhaps?

As long as you don't mind using your beer hand to hit pause kinda frequently (maybe bind it to mouse 3 if that's possible) the Baldur's Gate games might fit.

It offers a very unique challenge of bringing the bad guys down while working strictly by the book.

In a way it's what the original Police Quest tried to do, except it's in a tense action scenario and not about the tedium of bringing a drunk to the station.

You play with friends and use the quick mission maker to gently caress with them.

Like having Hellmap; which is the Subway map (because it has the highest number of enemies possible), max resistance (so people can't be shouted down or surrender), all enemies using LMGs/wearing armor, and have one hostage in the map with the same player model as the enemies.

Chances are you'll run out of ammunition or die before completing that one.

If you're going for the hardest difficulty, which basically requires perfection (all weapons recovered, all suspects detained, no casualties, no bad shoots, etc, etc) with the AI, then yes, that is where the frustration comes from. But on the lower difficulties it's an incredibly engrossing and unique experience that forces you to act like a police officer (...or at least like one should act) to the best of your abilities. You go slow, you plan, you use all the tools available to you, you follow procedure.

If you're playing with other people, SWAT4 is arguably one of the greatest co-op games of all time.

Oh it's on GOG? I hadn't noticed!

I played it back when it was released. It's mostly a point and click adventure game, and there is some of the try clicking everything or using everything on everyone if you get stuck, but it was interesting and I definitely liked it. Especially the earlier parts of the game. It later gets a little repetitive.

The best part is the soundtrack and (for its time) the movement sequences in most of the environments and the cutscenes were impressive. Voice acting is ok and the puzzles are not that hard to figure out.

I played it originally when it came out and remember liking it back then. I'm pretty sure the storyline turned out to be a bit of a cheesefest, but it has an interesting setting and an excellent soundtrack (the soundtrack is probably the best thing about the game). Also people remembering this game fondly may have something to do with the fact that it had fairly advanced graphics for its time.

I't say for the price they are selling it for at GOG it's almost certainly worth it. :v:

I immediately buy anything in the sort of retro VGA style because I'm drunk on nostalgia.

I was thinking about it, and I wish that GOG would get more of the spin-off games from Blitzkrieg 1, like the Barbarossa and Kursk campaigns or the ones set in a fictional WW3. Also, with Sudden Strike 4 coming out, I wish that they would offer some of the older Sudden Strike games. I've lost both my enjoyment of and reflexes for competitive RTS games like Starcraft, but I still enjoy cerebral RTT games like those.
