They are, yeah. Red gets the majority of the new lines since she's not optional.

Morrie doesn't speak much in a story capacity since you can get him any time you can beat S Rank, but he has a couple really good moments in the ending and postgame cutscenes.

Jessica mainly exists to have all of the buff/debuff spells.

... though Morrie might actually beat her out now just in terms of pure power buffing?

I think that was the fight back on PS2 where after getting wrecked I found out you could make a really good sword (zombie slasher + rosary?) that gave a noticeable damage boost to the hero and made enough of a difference to clear the fight.

I guess the 3DS remake is still Mudo-grade bullshit though.

Use tension and make sure you're not hitting an enemy with something it resists. Her spell damage should be at least acceptable but you have to keep in mind that it's static based on the spell with the early stuff offering only minimal adjustment from her wisdom stat. As you get new spells they'll do more damage with more adjustment.

I may have screwed myself out of the ability to make a profit on lesser panaceas, special medicines, and strong medicines. Are there any other good alchemical ways to make a big profit fast with 6000G in seed money and the upgraded pot?

Gold golem farming isn't hacking it anymore. They only provide like 150G per golem.

There are 2 mini medals in the later game that become missable shortly after you unlock the area they're in. If you care about that sort of thing I recommend you follow a mini medal guide for all of them as they pop up, or abuse Yangus' Nose for Treasure ability to ensure you get everything.

After you unlock the second casino you can buy the prayer rings there and sell them for 1500 each, never diminishing. That's still the best and quickest source of cash as far as I know.

You should be able to beat him with the gear and levels you have now if you figure out the boss's pattern and make good use of Defend and Psyche Up. Have you been investing into any particular skill trees?

I found the pre-Dhoulmagus moneygold ring farm I was seekingdidn't know I wanted until now. If you kill 30 Terror Tabbies west of Trodain Castle, a Gold Nugcat will appear on a hill to the east of the Trodain church. In addition to dropping 777 gold, it's also got a good chance of dropping a Gold Ring, which you can pawn for 1000guse in alchemy. You can respawn it by popping into the church and back out.

I beat him at a level 9 and I didn't have all the best gear so it's definitely possible. He follows a pattern. This is what I did.

Breath Fire: Hero = Defend / Yangus = Defend
Attack Single: Hero = Heal / Yangus = Psych Up
Attack Group: Hero = Heal / Yangus = Psych Up
Attack Single: Hero = Heal / Yangus = Psych Up
Attack Group: Hero = Heal / Yangus = Attack
Attack Single: Hero = Heal / Yangus = Attack or Medical Herb if needed.

I never knew he followed a pattern so I just had the hero on heal duty while Yangus used psyche up. It worked in the ps2 version and it worked now.

Anyone else feel like the monsters have been buffed a bit? I've been party wiped three times before even getting to Kraken and I'm not underleveled or undergeared. Once to a group of hammer hoods, and twice to imps/frogfaces who spammed breaths. Maybe it's just bad luck.

On the other hand, refilling HP/MP on levelup is so absurdly helpful in the early game. I don't think I've used a healing item yet.

I'm wondering if putting 42 into fists for Thin Air before going spears was worth it on Hero, that's a whole lot of points! But then again, Thin Air has been really good so far.

Should I invest points in my hero in boomerangs? Someone mentioned they weren't good late game and I made an assumption based on jrpg stereotypes that the hero would end up with the best swords.

I put all my points in boomerangs in the original, never used a sword again, and I was still a little disappointed by how easy the bosses were. There was just one time when I was thinking about giving it up but then I got a new powerful boomerang and that was the end of that. You'll be fine with sticking with boomerangs. Some of the bosses will be harder (a good thing I think) and all of the ordinary battles will always be over much quicker.

I didn't even use the eau de monster to get a photo of jailcat. I just went outside of the port where you get the photo quest and jail cat usually spawns near the hill. I kept a distance and it just ignore me.
