I don't think the auto-darkening helmets get dark enough for stick, but I could be wrong. I haven't welded stick since high school - and discovering MIG. The Harbor Freight auto-darkening helmet is adequate.

My father in law lives in Seattle and loves to discuss the 'wasteful' infrastructure spending the city does with me (burying the Alaskan Viaduct with a custom tunneling machine that breaks all the time, building a floating bridge with defective pontoons, the new bus rapid transit system that doesn't improve trip times, and the huge outlays for a new light rail network).

I can't wait to send him a zinger tomorrow about the wall.

The fact that it is literally too expensive to build will likely delay it a bit.

I love this car. I've always liked the 929. Cressidas will also do. It probably doesn't ride badly, other than possibly hitting bumpstops/floorpans.

Auto darkening helmets, so long as you have a decent one, are perfectly fine for any kind of home gamer welding work. I use one for stick, MIG and TIG without issue. You can adjust the darkness factor with a little dial.

Generally yes. All the save bugs are gone now, and it generally runs pretty good overall. There is a fair bit of new content (including a light campaign mode, mostly put in to try out all the math they are going to use in the real thing), and starting with the next version, they're going to be running on the Unreal Engine, which has dramatically improved the appearance and, well, just about everything, from what I can tell. This is their most recent dev update if you're wondering:

Also, the challenge I built should be a little more friendly too this time around, even if it has gained more complexity.

Wire fed? Well, it's basically the same as MIG, and yes, auto-darkening is nice to have.

Actual gas-shield MIG is quite a lot nicer to use (unless it's windy), though.

Nah, getting punched sucks. The bigger question is if you've since got over it, something that it sounds like you haven't. I got sucker punched by a frat bro many years ago at a party and while I was initially pretty salty about it finally found it easier to forgive and move on. It also didn't hurt that he got himself hosed up when he picked a fight with someone looking for one a couple months after

Nope I haven't gotten over it (it happened in 2008 lol) and I hate myself for it.

Is it more acceptable if it's the person i had previously considered my best friend for life? And he jumped me from behind, all because I asked him to clean up a beer he intentionally knocked over at my house?

Like I said my main crisis is the fact I still get this pissed about it nearly a decade on. Also that the only time I was remotely in shape was that I had the fantasy of "getting even" as motivation, cause that's loving healthy, right?

There's money, but it's a time sink in finding the right cars. As an individual, you start off at a disadvantage, since to do it legit and above-board, you have to pay tax on what you buy, so in Ohio, that's 8% factored into the purchase right off the top. Then there's the selling, but I've never had a lot of problem with that end of it. I make very complete ads and have a no-bs approach.

My dad and I have done over a dozen cars. He likes V6 Ford Rangers, which hold their value extraordinarily well, but are tough to find in flippable condition (low price/low mile combo).

Yeah, the key requirement to do this is a garage, and I'm not really willing to give it up right now outside of my personal auto projects.

My dad keeps bringing this up, and I'd love to make some extra dough, but then I don't know if I'd have time for my own projects.
