For me its the Banjo and Kazooie note collecting

The puzzles are interesting, the encounters and bosses are great and the final dungeon blew my mind when the game came out. Every dungeon from Lanayru Mining Facility on is top tier imo.

To be honest none of the "filler" bothers me at all. The areas are reused, yes. But they're always changed in some way. Taking a familiar area and changing how it works entirely (Tadtones, stealth section in Eldin Volcano) is a really interesting way to get more use out of assets imo.

SS's biggest negatives to me are Fi and the first 2 Imprisoned fights. Fi is a huge problem because all of her interesting text is hidden behind like 3 menu options and it's frustrating every time that she pops up without you calling her. The imprisoned just got old even if the fight did change each time.

well by filler i didnt mean the modified revisits, i meant flying through empty skies, traversing large annoying areas with a tiny stamina bar, doing 3 hours of boring poo poo at the beginning before you even get to hold a sword, etc. everything that isn't exploration, fightin and puzzle solving in a zelda is filler

Evil Eagle

For sure, the sky world is a big negative too. It's way too empty.

I don't really agree about the areas though, once you get through them once you usually have a ton of warp points to get you where you need to go.

that was stupid too but collecting the things is a time honored gaming tradition, its insane to me how anyone at nintendo thought the escort quest was a good thing to do in 2011. its bad in every single way it could have been, like every complaint about escort missions youd read in late 90s game magazines could be lodged against it

its not that theyre reusing places thats bad its that the things they make you do in them are awful boring garbage, then you get to a 2 floor dungeon you beat in 20 minutes and do more awful boring garbage until the next one

Is that the weird looking sprites in 3D environs? Apparently that's the Bravely Default team's new project.

I kind of hope it's Switch exclusive because Super Mario Odyssey is the only exclusive that makes me want to pick up a Switch eventually and there's no way I'm buying a console for just one game.

Im intrigued by that game too. I like the Bravely games a lot except for the character designs, writing and story, so hopefully any of that is better in Octopath

the first game is rear end but Red Steel 2 is pretty cool on the wii and basically the only game that justifies the motion+ wiimote. No More Heroes 1 & 2 are good too. as far as Wii U definitely play Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2.... don't sleep on Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze either because it's probably the best sidesxroller to come out in my adult life.

The dead mentor who comes back as a ghost feels awkward, like there's a missing first game in the series where she's actually a character before she dies.
