Okay apparently the trick to Mr.Shakedown is to just stock up on knives and +Heat items and just spam knife heat moves because they do stupid amounts of damage (but can't get knives on Kiryu right now)

it's not even the yakuza that are that bad, straight up everyone in kamurocho is a piece of poo poo. like on the way to go meet my new tonfa-wielding coworker for drinks I've stopped 8 rapes, 6 muggings, 12 kidnappings, and shut down a sex slave ring

If you can use weapons on Mr. Shakedown, what about the Golden Shotgun? You get it from finishing the Mushroom Guy story, which you can do very quickly and easily in chapter 2. He's around the corner from the Korean BBQ joint in an alleyway.

The Golden Shotgun can take out a crowd of 5 guys with one shot, a fact which made me bust out laughing for 5 drat minutes the first time I tried it. I think it can also be repaired an infinite number of times, like the Model Handgun (otherwise I have no idea what the infinity symbol on those two weapons means?)

e: Also, I was kinda annoyed that there was no special dialogue for buying the homeless guy the most expensive champagne bottle, but then I quit the game and saw I'd gotten a hidden trophy for doing it, nice.

I still remember finding the "snips" on Pink street in the PS2 Yakuza games. Even with those graphics and animations the image of using pliers on a dude's fingernails and teeth was visceral as well. :stonk:

Playing it a bit again, after finishing Kiwami and 6, I think combat against street goons really is way more difficult than the games after it. It seems like they attack more frequently and until your Rush ability is high enough that you can just dodge everything constantly or have Beast counter attacks, it can be a real problem sometimes.

Boss fights are about the same though.

Please tell me how to cheese Mr Shakedowns they are loving BULLSHIT and I've never even come close to winning. I don't have the patience to run around tapping them gently for several minutes.

They seem to be immune to grabs and all heat moves? I tried using a katana as Kiryu and no heat prompt popped up. Does Kiryu just not have a katana heat move in this game?

it doesn't help for kiryu but majima's slugger style has a heat move where you can initiate it by just facing him for a second

Yup. They take 5-10 minutes safely if they have purple or white health. I usually don't bother except for Majima cause Kiryu prints money by idling. All the media king properties could be 50% cheaper tho.

You also unlock Heat Moves for the Brawler and Rush styles that you can use on Shakedown when you have your back against a wall.

Also, save scumming the Electronic King's Challenge was hell. []OutRun. It had to be OutRun. The game I am the worst at out of all the arcade games. I had to actually get good at OutRun, which I never thought i'd have to do.[]

There's no real need to pass the challenges. You end up with 100% toward the end anyway. Don't sweat it.

There's a lot of brutal heat moves in this series, there's a lot of 'how did he survive that' moments. I've shot a dude with a handgun and slammed his head into a car door over and over. I've run over motherfuckers in cars. I've literally curbstomped pretty much every petty thug in Japan at this point. That nails heat move was the first to make me actually go 'JESUS' out loud.

The nail box one got to me too. The other one was the heat action with the dagger. Kiryu charged a dude, stabbed him in the stomach, then whipped the dagger sideways which should have disemboweled the poor guy.

If they didn't want to get knocked into a river, they shouldn't have fought you next to a river.

Like when guys fight me in that alley next to the Champion District, I just wanna be like "Look, there's a random syringe right over there. If you fight me, I 100% am going to shove it in your butt. You've been warned."
