DrSunshine posted:It seems like it's got everything! I wonder how odd it must be to start at the beginning of the novel, though? If it started 120 years ago, they'd have been in a Victorian-era setting to start with and then progress to the modern day as each new successor took the pen. The whole series starts with Belle falling through a portal to the past, so it wasn't a contemporary setting to being with. Also, I just realized the series is written at a rate of 3 books / year, which is STUPID FAST.

I wonder if it's like Tintin and a bunch of the old ones are rare and out of print due to racism.

Daedalus1134 posted:GreatBen810 having the cosplay clock hands at 7:15 is blasphemy Well, maybe to the plebeians who didn't read volume 211. There, it was a bit of a plot point that the hands pointed to 7:15 at 8:10. But oh, no. My mistake. It's easy to forget a minor thing like that. It's just how Belle recognized the quaint village she'd spent the last six months hiding in had been an interrogation camp for former British Intelligence agents. Not like it mattered, or set up an eight volume arc.

Someone on staff must speak English pretty well, because all the lines of not-Twilight and Lotte's witchy IM were all in pretty standard English. Malloc Voidstar posted:https://twitter.com/Trigger_Tattun does the show's English text translating. This is what I really liked about the episode. In any other show the novels written by the magic pen would be MASTERPIECES. Instead, it just insures that there's always a place in the world for mediocre YA books that nonetheless serve to inspire budding literature and writing enthusiasts.

Also, this episode pretty much confirms that Lotte is a part of the same minority as Tove Jansson, the Swedish speaking Finns, since the restaurant from her flashback used the Swedish spelling of the Finnish city Turku(Åbo).
