You know, I've been thinking for a while that the one driving force behind Trump's rise to power wasn't even bigotry per se, but just pure unadulterated spite. Don't get me wrong, racism and hatred played a pretty huge part in it, but Trump's support base came to be such a rainbow coalition of overlapping and often contradictory brands of hatred (See: Kirschen / KKKlurf) that it just doesn't seem like it could stand on a leg based on racism alone without tearing itself to pieces on day one. On the other hand, the one promise that Trump can deliver on is "liberal tears". Even the dumbest loving spectator can see that Trump's erratic and vague statements mean he really doesn't stand anywhere on pretty much any issue, but the one constant is that, whatever he does, it makes liberals mad. There's plenty of cartoonists on this thread who, to this day, have barely had a single good thing to say about Trump, but they still fall into line churning out pro-Trump propaganda. The message? "see how mad these libs are". And that's it, that's the Trump platform.

The Trumpist fauna has plenty of species to marvel at, but for me the most pathetic is the trolls who somehow still think they're "ironically" supporting fascism and white supremacy. Because yeah, I'm fully aware that there's nothing "ironic" about the core of the alt-right, and I'm also aware that this whole propaganda-thru-dank-memes was part of Stormfront's strategy to coopt 4chan and other cesspools in order to spread their message. But when these shitheads say "b-b-but the alt-right aren't all neo-nazis!", like, they're actually right. It's just that, for me, that makes it worse, not better. Because jesus christ, how pathetic do you have to be to understand that your group is infested with neo-nazis, not be a neo-nazi yourself, and still help the general effort for the sake of feeling you're "in on the joke"?

No?

Trump is the typical dude that say things like "If we cut forest, we will save money in firefighters". A simple solution to a simple problem. Many people believe that, because they are stupid.

People in average, is stupid. Trump is like, their mirror image.

Yeah, the overall atmosphere since the election isn't even "ha ha, we won", it's "ha ha, you lost". Making the other side upset is the same as being right now.
In a similar tone, there was this news segment where some smug dipshit gave a petty parting shot to a feminist he was interviewing/debating with about how feminists are easily offended in the form of a playground insult and she demanded to be allowed to respond before they cut her off. This got widely circulated as proof that "haw haw feminists really ARE easily offended!" (and this very "article" smugly posits "way to prove his point!")
As opposed to, you know, "making someone angry isn't the same as being proved right". Or even "news interviews should be held to a higher standard than a tepid internet comment section burn". But no, the petty rear end in a top hat is the correct one because he made the other side mad.

The fact that "you mad" has become national discourse is easily one of the darkest signs.

Cynically I suspect even this is more sophisticated than the truth. I think the only real common element among the thought processes of most Trump voters is a variant of the Politician's fallacy:
  1. Something needs to be done (about jobs/mexicans/muslims/wars/sjws/civility/jews/emails/whatever their personal beef is).
  2. Trump will do something (unlike do-nothing politicians).
  3. Therefore we should vote for Trump.

edit: Though reading again I guess you're talking about Trump supporters, which is a very different group from Trump voters.

No see, he's cutting in between the "radical" and "islam", so that just the radical parts of Islam fall away. As the cartoon suggests, this is very easy to, by "bombing the hell out of them" as per Trump's well considered suggestion. I mean, in just one raid, Trump has killed 14 terrorists, and it only cost about three dozen civilians, a Navy Seal, 6 injured Americans, and a crashed $70M aircraft! Magaste.
