Here's some awesome news, Rec Room devs raise $5 million to expand the game: http://www.roadtovr.com/rec-room-raises-5m-continue-build-future-social-vr/

A dev also confirmed in another thread that they're working on a boxing gym in the game.

I think my favorite paid software titles have been SUPERHOT VR (medium length), Obduction (long), and I Expect You To Die (short). Chronos is also pretty great (light version of Dark Souls in a way). I have not checked out any of the newer titles on the Oculus Home store yet.

If it's overly blurry it's more likely than not a poor fit. Try it higher and lower on your face, wherever it needs to be for the lenses to fall directly in front of your pupils. You should figure out your IPD too though, of course.

The game that always seems to be a hit with kids that age is Job Simulator, particularly the mechanic and chef jobs. For a 6-8 year old it is like the ultimate playhouse an it actually makes me insanely jealous that this stuff didn't exist when I was a kid.

Definitely grab all the free stuff you can to start with, especially The Lab, Destinations, Rec Room, and Google Earth. As far as paid games go you cannot go wrong with Space Pirate Trainer.

Also get on itch.io and download the demo for Gorn, immediately.

Also how good is VorpX now from those of you who have it? I have been eyeing it for a while for games like Skyrim and Doom
I've used it in Skyrim, first off it uses the closest resolution it can (1280x1024 in this case) and stretches/distorts it to the the proper resolution so it's even blurrier than usual. I use a lot of AA to fight the aliasing flicker (FXAA in Skyrim settings, transparency and general AA in videocard settings), and the image is fairly smooth after that (I use 2x on my 970 but would probably obviously be better with 4x). My biggest gripe is that since it requires the control scheme to use a mouse for headset emulation, the gamepad is emulated which works fairly well except that movement is very sudden (all or nothing movement) and jarring, making a controller pretty unusable. However, it works fine with my huge mod setup and supports SKSE (not ENB though), which is really nice. Overall, the software definitely works as best it can, but feels like a beta or something because of all the weird poo poo it does. For instance, you can only open and close it if you have VR started or else it will start spazzing out; and it changes settings in a strange way-- like somehow it made all my text on the SomethingAwful forums appear in bold permanently. Seriously every post is all in bold type face now and no other site does this and I'm pretty sure it's VorpX's fault; seriously I don't even.

Yes it works great. Only thing that gets odd is at one point you have to use the trigger and grip button at the same time and the one screen prompt is for a touch controller so it's confusing.

I've only played it in revive and I ended up using most of my roomscale space. Apparently it works fine standing scale but I personally moved around and reached quite a bit when I played.

Proof it works in revive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9GRRNgGhOD8 Sorry for the low video quality, and frozen Vive camera pointing at my desk.

I gave it to my non-gamer boyfriend and he got it in five seconds. You punch big stupid gladiators, chop their limbs off, beat them with each other, and grab a two-handed war hammer to smash them. He was ducking and diving around the room instantly. It's a good workout.

Ha that sounds something like when I went with my family in the 90's (I was 11 I remember) and everything we I guess, more "Family Oriented" so every hotel had a ton of high end Arcade experiences, a Afterburner game that was inside a full 360 cockpit that would flip you and everything, tons of 8-16 people Daytona sims, F1 racing sims with 8 players and big screens showing the racers screen for others to watch, and even a cool sort of Tour/Ride in the Luxor that was a pretty awesome experience.

Then I went again more recently for a friends Bachelor party and it was all about the drinking/gambling with none of that there. (I don't drink) so I was a bit disappointed. The VR stuff I could see being cool as long as they are hygienic (with all the dunks walking around, you would think they would have to give those headset and controllers a good dunk in cleaning solutions at the end of the day lol.

What I don't get is those older networked arcade experiences were a ton of fun, newer stuff seems to have taken the mobile game experiences and shoved them into cabinets and try to charge $.50-$1+ for like 30 seconds. WTF guys if you want to charge that much, make it not suck so dang bad and be worse than what I can play on my phone, for free, anytime I want. Jeez

There is a new Arcade/Bar in Sacramento called Coin-Op that is loaded with Pinball and mostly all retro Arcade games at reasonably prices ($.25-$.50 for like a few newer ones like 4 player pacman or Area 51). The food is good and the arcades are all well kept, work and look good, are kept clean (drink holders everywhere so you don't set it on the cabinet itself). It is a ton of fun and exactly what Dave and Buster should have been. It is also one of the most popular bars in Sac I believe now. Go figure when you have fun games you can play drunk, good music, and good food, combined can do.

/rant off

Hope Vegas gets some Virtuix Omni arcade stations as well, would help my investment into their company more than it already is in China. :)

I had the game mirrored to a screen set up to the side and tilted towards me, so I was standing (a ways, nor directly) in front of them and could see myself through their eyes.

Thinking about it, most people would probably find that a bit confusing, but I dunno, it felt fine for me so long as I kept the vive-wearer in mind as my reference point.

I've had Oculus Touch now for about a day and i'm struggling with some yellow to red "poor tracking quality" errors in one or both sensors. I have gone through the google troubleshooting i could find: updating USB drivers, trying all possible combos of USB connections, disabling "selective USB suspending" in the power options and probably more that i have forgotten now.

Sometimes i can get a green light on both sensors, but usually one is messing up. Whenever i get green lights on both, the errors start creeping up after about 15 minutes of play and it becomes unusable.

My sensors are attached to the roof infront of my play area ca max 2m away from where i move around, about 120cm apart facing the play area and are connected with active USB 3 extension cables that i got suggested to use ITT. According to both the Oculus VR check and the SteamVR Performance Test i have a system that exceeds the recommended requirements and should have "a great time in VR".

Anyone got any ideas?

here's my GORN story:

When the talking head told me to shoot him in the face with the bow & arrow, I thought he meant the gladiator behind the bars, not the floating talking head (I was pretty high.). So I tried shooting arrows between the bars, which obviously wouldn't go through because I was too dumb to understand the tutorial. I then jumped in the goddamn air and let fly a noble shaft over the bars and straight into the gladiator's noggin, killing him and getting stuck for 10 minutes till restarting since it was my last arrow.

I then got to live out my gladiatorial fantasies prancing around as DOUBLE SWORD GANNICUS from spartacus so 10/10

To get more insight you'll want to look at the service log. The poor tracking quality errors actually mean a number of things, some of which can be revelatory if you hover over the little question mark next to the statement.
The oculus service log is very detailed and as of the 1.11 update has some pretty useful logging information in it.
You can find the service log at %localappdata%\oculus\ and it starts with Service_<datestamp>.txt

Some common issues

Most usb controllers are garbage, especially onboard. Seriously, most USB controllers, even intel ones, have had total poo poo implementations since the dawn of time. People who have done serious work with USB have recognized this for a long time, most people just use it for keyboard/mouse/light UFD/HDD stuff where the cracks don't really show.

One factor of USB controller garbage is that they aren't powerful enough to keep up with the load placed on them from a fairly intensive device like an Oculus Rift camera, much less if they have anything else on them as well. Solution: Get a dedicated USB card, various ones are available that are reliable.

The other factor that is related to USB controller garbage is that they also do a poo poo job of delivering the specified per port power that they are supposed to. Solution is a good USB card as I mentioned above or a good powered USB hub, which is a whole different ball of wax.

Actually the people in the lobby chat were saying that, but I was getting pretty lucky and got in multiple 2v2 and 1v1 games with little waiting. Seems like results are varied but yeah the reviews too are saying they need to work on the matchmaking.

Thank you! It works for now, before reading your post i decided to try and run the entirety of the setup process again and this time it after some random fiddling with the sensor angles i got green lights. Then at the next screen it whined at me to further fiddle with the sensor angles and which way to move them. I really think that screen should be available earlier or at least it should clearly say "SENSORS NOT ALIGNED PROPERLY" in huge red letters at the tracking quality error page if it's the case.

Anyway tho, i'm not 100% convinced that was the whole problem, do you think you or anyone else could be bothered to recommend a good USB card? I have a "ASUS Z97-A, Socket-1150" motherboard if that's relevant.

The Unspoken (1v1), Rec Room (social), Onward (SteamVR, shooter). I haven't tried it, but people seem to like Arizona Sunshine (zombie shooter).

There are some other notable multiplayer games, but I'm not sure of their population. Dead and Buried (western shooter) is free. People love or hate EVE: Valkyrie (space arcade dogfighting, supports bots). BlazeRush gets good word of mouth (toy racing).
