Anyway,
I like the model. The sword is obviously the burning blade, from the main codex. I don�t have the book, but I am pretty sure it belonged to the Emperor at one point, hence why it is on fire. It just didn�t see much use because it was a +3 Strength weapon, but I am sure in a Primarch�s hands it will hit harder, at least strength 8 at Primarch initiative. I fully expect him to far less deadly than Magnus, with some sick army-wide rules. Considering how they went with the characters so far I actually trust them to make something not to game breaking.

The Good:
- I like the way the armor looks, but I am big sucker for heavily ornamented armor. I would agree it is perhaps to form fitting, beginning to look like a Terran Marine, but the pose is more dynamic, and certainly better than his 30k version.
- Still not a huge fan of the Primarchs returning idea, but hey if the loyalists are coming back too, Ultramarine fanboy mode engage.

The Bad
- Still a little upset that didn�t take this chance to make him look significantly different from his 30k model in terms of maybe showing how badly he was hurt at the hands of Fulgrim. He didn�t have to be full ROBOT mode, but I would�ve appreciated a change.
- This would�ve been a perfect chance to make a multi-kit to show how he is supposed to be a great all-rounder, perhaps having a jump pack and bike version.
- Hate the leg braziers.

8th Edition is going to be announced at Adepticon. Plot has been moved forward in a way that changes things but still changes nothing, just as GW intended. All the other chapters get dick-punched whether the Wolves getting mauled by Magnus, Dark Angels having been under the influence of xenos for 10k years, Baal getting invaded, Iron Hands primarch still headless, and the White Scars/Raven Guard get slapped around by the Tau. What do the Ultramarines get? Just their Primarch back, and to be at the forefront of an alien/imperium alliance against the forces of Chaos.

Guilliman looks great, I look forward to getting GW Guilliman and FW Guilliman and making them kiss.

Cypher looks loving cool, and he's holding one pistol in the air and drawing his second pistol ya dummies. His sword's on his back. Even as an Ultramarines fanboy I think he's the best dude in this set.

Grey Knight guy is cool but not too exciting, just a solid, comparatively understated character model.

I'm not a huge fan of the armor myself, but I don't think it's AoS levels of silliness either. He's a Primarch and should have crazy personalized armor - you just can't get a high level of fine detail in a plastic injection mold though, so we wind up seeing these simplistic patterns that just don't look all that great.

They'll probably let it sit. It's obviously real and official, and because it's coming out in print soon, it serves as a reason for people to buy the new White Dwarf or whatever. It's not like when someone found a Magnus box in the trash cans (which was loving hilarious).

The Grey Knight dude is decent, but I'm thinking he might be that old special character, Mordrak. He had a hammer and his big gimmick was a squad of ghosts that followed him around.

I am amazed they made a plastic Guilliman without a bunch of those leather strap-things they stole from Roman armor. The Forge World version has them and this new version is somehow really lacking as a result. Give him a cape or tabard or something. Looks like the foot-braziers are actually part of his base though, thank gently caress. They haven't gotten that stupid yet, at least.

Here's the difference: That dude is rad. Ankle braziers would be loving stupid, but it doesn't look like they actually went that route, it's just a weird angle where we can't quite see the base properly.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Forgeworld one was CAD too. Most scultping is nowadays. It has more to do with art direction and restraint on the sculptor's part than anything else. Forgeworld's always had a grittier and more realistic style than GW, even when hand sculpting was the main thing for both of them.

Also amused to see that the Ultras are apparently going through its third or fourth colour scheme revision to an even darker blue. They look closer to crimson fists now than anything.

I seem to recall an relatively recent IC episode where Carl mentioned that CAD has been used for sculpting for way longer than people have been aware aware off.
