The actual opening lines: Now is the winter of our discontent Made glorious summer by this sun of York; And all the clouds that lour'd upon our house In the deep bosom of the ocean buried. Now are our brows bound with victorious wreaths; Our bruised arms hung up for monuments; Our stern alarums changed to merry meetings, Our dreadful marches to delightful measures. It might be common, but it is a mistake that would only be made by someone who never bothered reading beyond the first line. Kopijeger fucked around with this message at 22:48 on Feb 4, 2017 |

Xander77 posted:No poo poo. Do you imagine a lot of people have? Well, in an ideal world people would at least bother to research quotations and learn about their context before they include them in derivative works like cartoons. Still, there is some small pleasure in pointing out cases where people are clearly just parroting things they have heard somewhere instead of actually understanding what they are referencing.

Kopijeger posted:How did they turn copper plating on an iron frame into those blocks? Through the magic of cartooning. It says that they are destroying liberty to build a wall. It could have been about melting the statue down to create a barbed wire fence with its metal, but the way used is simpler and therefore punchier. Don't be willfully dense, I guess.

Remember that Bannon/Trump "I'm a big boy now"? It's apparently and officially went "viral" http://globalnews.ca/news/3226730/anti-trump-cartoon-by-vancouver-artist-goes-viral/ What I didn't know is that it was drawn by Pia Guerra. The article could have mentioned she's won multiple awards for working on the ground-breaking series Y The Last Man as well, but eh, I'll be interested to see if she has further political output.

I shouldn't be surprised at the amount of people swallowing the line, now touted by the loving President himself, that Milo (sometimes, Spencer too) is just some harmless bright-eyed lover of freedom of speech whose only crime is holding a slightly different opinion, and he's been stomped into the mud by the REAL fascists, college students. This one just really pisses me off. Unlike when people called Obama Hitler, there are actual parallels here that isn't just needless inflammatory language. But so many of these "truth is in the middle" people just think we're being over-dramatic. He is the only American national politician that legitimately earned the comparison, but because so many people cried Hitler now we're just being needlessly dramatic. Sure.
