I feel like right about the time I'm a little tired of Majima or Kiryu and start thinking "I wish the game would switch to the other guy for a bit of a change," the game switches to the other guy. I've found it to be really well balanced in that way. (Not counting the week I spent on maxing out the Cabaret because I couldn't stop playing that stupid subgame)

Kiryu can bankroll himself and Majima pretty well, money starts to snowball if you have the shrine bonus for beating Mr.Shakedown. Get some money, lose to Shakedown, then beat him. Starts to add up kinda quick.

I say this as a big fan of other elements of the series; it's basically a big PR victory for organized crime in Japan. It's unlikely that many of the gravure models used for the phone card/videos stuff in the series entered that business voluntarily. Yakuza syndicates are a major factor in the meat factory of Japanese idol industry, from child pop singers on through pornography. It's a mechanism for wringing maximum value from women as sex objects. To be fair. It isnt like the mob over here invests in video games and geeky entertainment the only dollars they want are the Tourist dollars from building bar and grills for game night. Plus GTA cemented the mood of all crime drama sandbox as treating everyone as horrible people to justify why your character may go and gun down civies who we would punch square in the jaw if we met one Another point against RGG is none of the playable are actually part of the organization. They have ties but you never do a direct job for the Tojo or Omi to get paid. And even among the nicer Yaks they still are ruthless bastards as you see with Nikkyo Consortium.

The CP system is super good and a great way to encourage you do so a bunch of side stuff in order to gain some sick passive buffs. I regretted putting points in before I unlocked the business side activities but it was very easy to get enough CP to max out the business section by just loving around and having fun.

Do real estate profits come from my share of each area or each individual store? Once I've got 100% share in an area do I still need to go around looking for shops I didn't buy?

Share only matters for progressing the story, all of your profit is from the stores. If you go to Business in the pause menu it should tell you which properties you own and don't own.

Okay, thanks. That's kind of a pain. (Edit) actually, looking at it, there's not as many stores in each area as I thought, it's not too bad.

StarkRavingMad posted:Do real estate profits come from my share of each area or each individual store? Once I've got 100% share in an area do I still need to go around looking for shops I didn't buy? Share kicks back a little extra to your revenue every period (I think the formula is that it gives a Share/10 % bonus, i.e. 100% = 10% bonus) it also controls the progress you have to completing the district. 30% - Marina tells you a bit about the distrct's king. 60% - The king challenges you to a minigame, with a 10% stake for grabs (if you win you get an extra 10%, if you lose, you lose 10%). The minigame varies depending on area. Leisure is Karaoke, Electronics is Outrun, Pleasure is Telephone Club, Gambling is JCC, and Media is Disco. (This does mean you need to do Substory 18 and unlock the JCC). 90% you get challeneged to a fight and can take over the remainder of the territory. Taking it over means that you will no longer be challenged to Money Battles or have thugs stop payments. Managers can still boost district profits, and Securtity can still intervene in the district if you fight. At 60% and 90% you are also locked out of collecting profits until you deal with the challenge. There are 7 to 9 business to buy in each district, and you can get the names of them from the pause screen. The remaining shops in the district must be acquired by making friends with the owner or attendant. Leisure has 2 such shops, the Sushi shop at the bottom of the map (give the owner fish, you can even give him stuff from the password shop) and the convenience store closest to the real estate office (buy stuff). Electronics has Sega Land (play Outrun against the attendant in the back). Gambling has Mach Bowl (bowl enough and then bowl a turkey when the challenge starts). Media has Pocket Racer Arena (win all the cup races). There is no friendly shop in Pleasure district. OJ MIST 2 THE DICK fucked around with this message at 23:38 on Feb 5, 2017 |

So, how many total chapters there are in the game? I am in chapter 6 and I thought the game was starting to wind down, on the Kiryu side at least. Going by some of the earlier posts, that is obviously not the case. I could try to burn through the rest of the mini game side quests and business, but I think I am ready to progress through the story.

17 chapters, I think.

To expound a bit on real estate shares if you don't have a manager assigned you'll be getting 90% of your areas profits naturally (like if your manager was -2). The 10% of shares you get for being 100% will cover that so you'll save money not needing a manager or security. Also gently caress Club Moon, man. They get dickery meter so fast. So I did the number crunching. To max out Kiryu's 4th style it'll take 29,450,520,000,000 yen. So double that for Majima but I'm not sure if all the upgrade paths for him are the same. but it's doable. Already up to nearly 2 trillion with Kiryu alone!
