They've clearly made it their agenda to proactively demonise potential threats to the LNP. This is not the behaviour of a reporter of news. An actual newspaper would have run the story "Bernardi defects from LNP, starts new party". Although I hope his poo poo extreme-right party goes nowhere, I also hope it has enough sympathetic readers that they feel uncomfortable with the front page of this newspaper and question its motives and lose trust in it.

In other countries they have newspapers that are blatantly partisan and it kind of works. Probably need more than two newspapers per city to pull it off though.

Because there's one for each side. I think Australia would benefit from an openly socialist newspaper. One that doesn't end up interviewing people from the IPA because they feel like they have to give equal time to all viewpoints no matter how ridiculous. [EDIT: I mean, of course, no one would buy it.]

I feel like Australia has the same problems as Germany, which is our internal security forces (a few organisations) seem to be pretty right-wing which means that the threat of right-wing/ultranationalist terrorism isn't being addressed. Germany has the BfV and basically it was an anti-communist police thing headed by actual Nazis and surprise surprise they were buddy buddy with the neo-nazi movement up to and post reunification (track record of actually funding nazis)
