my mom is still convinced chiropractors can help you recover from the flu and poo poo. the chiropractor she took us to when i was a kid does this thing where she "examines" your spine for subluxations by prodding at your back in a way that really hurts. then she adjusts you and then "re-examines" your spine while prodding at spots that don't hurt as much and going "see how we relieved those pressure points?" it had me totally fooled until i read some iteration of the old gbs pseudoscience thread like 12 years ago and realized what an obvious con that was.
