This presser about Julien. The GM said twice he was sorry for the timing, after the Patriots won the Superbowl and during the parade. The first question is about why they announced right after the Patriots won the Superbowl.

Jamwad Hilder posted:I'm not saying he's absolved of his bad performances, but it definitely doesn't help that they leave him hanging out to dry multiple times every game. Then he has to start the next one because there's literally no reliable backup in the system. The goaltending is a mess. To be fair, the goaltending situation is pretty directly influenced by the terrible state of the defense, which is another problem at the feet of management.

Not to say that the defense is great or anything, but Rask was playing lights out to start the season in front of the same defense. I don't think there are many long-time coaches (remember when Julien was a Tim Thomas miracle away from getting fired?) who can survive the type of run Boston's goaltending is having right now.

I want to believe they're just pumping him up for a trade, but I think Maurice is just bad. e: Also Tyler Myers just had surgery again, meaning he will have played a grand total of 11 games this year. Boo hoo, we only have Rask as a starter and several young guys with potential that have yet to hit their nhl stride behind a bad defence. Eat a dick, bruins. Also, hasn't Helly been like 910 all season? He's been average to decent every game I've seen him in. Is it just Pavelec love or what?

You know how when players get traded between US and Canadian teams they sometimes get delayed for visa stuff? Do players on an American farm team getting called up to a Canadian team have to go through that too?

JawKnee posted:because he's been doing a good job dude He's good at putting Alexei Emelin on the top pairing and 1st penalty kill where he can gently caress up the most. Oh, and the moment Markov came back, Beaulieu got kicked off the special teams for no reason . They had gotten noticeably worse. They also can't beat any team ranked higher than 11th place. He also pulls a Capuano where they let off all the pressure with a 1 goal lead in the 3rd. It just seems like he's doing a good job because just like last year, a sky high save percentage is covering up the team's faults.

They've actually been really good. Since Doug Weight took over (1/19) the Islanders are: Tied for 1st in the league for points with the Caps (6-1-2 for 14 points) 2nd in Goals for (33) 3rd in PPG (8) 4th in PK% (88.9%) 7th in Corsi% (51.49%) and 6th in Fenwick (51.67%). They're also playing fun high event hockey and have completely dumped Capuanos dumb bad player focused Cycle cycle cycle, kick puck out to point at first opportunity and take unscreened shot on net offence. They are now making good skilled hockey plays in the offensive zone that have been resulting in highlight goals. Ladd, Strome, Nelson and Bailey have all been contributing way more than they were before and its taken the pressure off of Tavares a bit I almost don't want to mess this up by having Julian come in right now even though hes a known good coach. There is a possibility that Doug Weight may actually know what hes doing.

Spelling Mitsake posted:You know how when players get traded between US and Canadian teams they sometimes get delayed for visa stuff? Do players on an American farm team getting called up to a Canadian team have to go through that too? Yeah, work visas are required on both sides of the border. I wouldn't imagine this disappears at any particular level of play. Having said that, I know precious little about the actual Visa classes involved so maybe there's some kind of fast tracking that can be done.

Wouldn't the employer be the team that they're signed with? Guys sign with the big club even if the're playing with a farm team. I would imagine that's why you don't see too many issues once the initial visa issues are worked out. When they get traded they have a new employer.

Hmm, so we're looking for an ex-Bruin, who has coaching experience, and is probably someone who overlapped with Sweeney as a player? On the "Ok, sure, why not" end of the spectrum we have Ted Donato (head coach at Harvard) and on the "I'm Going To Kill Myself" end we have Adam Oates.

I'm a known Oates coaching hater, and I have to say, probably still a better choice than Cassidy. Both are comically bad, but at least the players like Oates.

With Konecny dead that means Read returns but we still only have 12 forwards so that brings up.... probably Boyd Gordon or Jordan Weal.

Murray's getting the start tonight even though Fleury had a solid game against the Blues so I think we can assume Murray's officially Sullivan's guy now and Fleury's just the backup unless Murray epically shits the bed or is hurt again.
