Either they never implemented, or removed, the tools for terraforming, but the game engine supported it and it was an intended feature for release. I think they were taking it out because it didn't really add anything while making the terrain quite glitchy.

The way they implemented allowing the terrain to be deformed is allegedly responsible for a lot of the game's performance issues like the aggressive pop-in and stuttering. It's a feature that almost no one uses or benefits from, so they're getting rid of it to improve performance. They've delayed actually removing it for quite awhile though, so some people have surmised that there's actually a lot more contributing to the poor performance than just the terraforming (given the performance issues with natural selection 2 this would not be surprising). What I've played in early access has been positive except for the performance, which is kind of a game killer, so hopefully that is ironed out by release.

This is my first time playing any sort of resident evil-alike game (I played the poo poo out of the original Alone in the Dark 20 years ago), and RE7 is pretty loving amazing. It's tense. I'm in the beginning just past the car fight. I mean, I don't know what the gently caress is going on and nobody dies (but me and the cop lol) and I don't really like the unkillable monster chasing you or whatever, but the unkillable monster at least has some spooky as poo poo personality, so thats cool. I had to use a walkthrough already the first time the monsterman started chasing me. Items and pick-ups seem a little arbitrary to me, but I think that's just I'm not familiar at all with games like this. Anyway, the atmosphere feels pretty drat great. I don't like running around everywhere with the monsterdude chasing me, although I guess that adds to the overall feeling, but it's really annoying having to backtrack and poo poo once the adrenaline rushes wear off. I hope RE8 continues having great atmosphere. I didn't like the gameplay, but I definitely enjoyed watching it (RE7).

We'll see how many times I either die or call up a walk-through guide. SO far the Voice Acting is all southern drawl, so it can afford to be a little crappy while still be authentic sounding. Good or bad, it works pretty well.

should i buy city skylines for 10 bux? I never really was a gamer much in my 20s, then I've been getting more into it the past year or two. I used to like messing around in Sim City 2000 when I was a kid. Cities skylines is very good for a city builder, but it's not super substantial later on. Becomes pretty micromanagey and can get kinda annoying with stuff like dealing with dead people, garbage trucks, and traffic since hearses and other utility vehicles move in real time from their origin buildings. That said, for ten bucks you will likely get at least 15-20 hours out of it, I still enjoyed my time with it a lot.

RPS has an article up about a game coming out this year about programming robots, and I need it - But I'm bringing this to the thread's attention because quote:John doesn’t like this modern rash of programming games because: “It’s like if authors only ever wrote books about how books are bound.” But he’s just being a feeble human with unstable emotions. I was an admirer of Shenzhen I/O and TIS-100 before that, not to mention the bright lights of Else Heart.Break() or the dark virtual rat cage that was Hackmud. And while you might say programmers programming about programming is as self-indulgent as writers writing about writing, some excellent books also fall into that latter category. And that’s what I think about that. I don't think John understands that reading about book binding is cool, and playing games about programming is even cooler. I...don't comprehend why someone could be mad about more programmers making games about it - the genre is the least saturated one in the world, compared to things like shooters or punchers.

The general consensus is that the actual "game" parts of Skylines are a bit limp unless you love traffic management. (Also the way they've done DLC is a bit of a mess.)

Seeing all of those Star Wars games makes me wonder why there aren't more new ones. Battlefront... The Old Republic... I can't think of any other real Star Wars games that have been released in the past 5 years or so, which seems ridiculous what with the new movies and everything. Also I'm not counting lovely phone games of which there are probably dozens that I don't know about.
