Yeah that's Jay Bauman. I wonder if Hatch recognized the costume he was wearing. Also, I still love the Stu Phillips score. He also did the Knight Rider theme.

SquirrelGrip posted:1UZ's rule, toyota make the best engines Partially true, my car currently has a well abused 7M in it hence the desire to swap it out. It would've been a great engine if not for the last minute gasket material change and improper torque settings. The bottom end as standard on them is good for ~500hp apparently. Mine's probably had 3 head gaskets now but of course previous owners cheaped out on the gaskets and machine work which is why it's eaten them like candy. It has now had a proper machine job, metal head gasket and ARP bolts, but I still don't trust the amount of abuse it's had. 1JZ, 2JZ, 1UZ and 3UZ are all viable replacements too seeing as they bolt in fairly easily so I just need to decide what and throw yet more cash at it. That 7M probably copped more abuse than a lot of other engines would take but stick the biggest thing that comfortably fits in it imo

Some cicadas are prime-number-year (13 and 17 IIRC?) hatchers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Periodical_cicadas So, there's a chance if they're magicicadas that you've never seen them before if you're in certain areas of the country. Northern GA? This is their year!

Jesus Christ, you nerds. All motors are good, if they make the vehicle they're in go fast very quickly and keep doing it over and over without breaking. Cheapo light bars are poo poo. They put out a huge amount of light with absolutely no pattern or control, so you're scattering bullshit light all over, glaring into every eye that can see -- that's an rear end in a top hat move if you're in a bro truck, motorcycle or using one as a flashlight. If nobody is around to see, you're still using lovely lights with no pattern that are simply ineffective. Pay a few bucks more for quality optics. That is all.

Cicadas are forever recorded on one of my music tracks from 2006. Was recording at home in the summer, said "naahh that won't show up on the recording" and was too lazy to ever re-record it. This should link directly to the song. It was over 10 years ago so no harsh judging. You can hear it a little better in the left channel, starts at :10 and lasts til around :20. https://myspace.com/apensivefashion/music/song/lines-into-walls-26163230-25964415

It's kinda funny that as an adult you're just now discovering what cicadas are, what part of the country did you grow up? I grew up in the northern US and remember them during the summer, in the south there's a poo poo ton of them, and it can get pretty loud sometimes if there's a bunch of them in one tree. For the most part I'm used to it and it doesn't bother me, sometimes I actually find the droning sound they make relaxing.

I built some PA speakers and did it that way, no real noise to speak of, just the cone trying to move air but having nothing to really push against.
