Holy hell. I want to believe this game will be good, but Bioware is actively trying to disabuse me of that notion.

Sarah (gently caress their fancy spelling) still looks like she should be in school or maybe undergrad, not leading an intergalactic expedition.

To be clear, anytime her name has been written with an h it's been a typo. Yes, even in the Andromeda Initiative briefings about meeting the team. The writer was shaking his fist about it on twitter.

Those character kits are literally just for people to be able to make cosplay costumes or fanart. The models will of course look better when shading and lighting is added.

A typical person is supposed to be about five, maybe six heads tall. A heroic or fashionable figure is expected to be seven. Makes them seem more impressive. So it's less that Ryder is short and more that Sheploo is a tiny headed supergiant.

I'm pretty sure the actual in-game model has normal proportions?

You pulled those numbers out of your rear end. It's 7.5 for normal and 8.5 for heroic. In your diagram, Ryder is a head shorter than a normal person.

That's usually for figure drawing, though. People are usually closer to six, though I do find some reference that the most "attractive" people tend to be seven and a half head heights.

Every article I can find on body proportions seems to focus on figure drawing instead of actual people, including a medical "tips" website that explicitly references the wikipedia article as its source, when said article is full of [citation needed] comments and, again, only cares about drawings and not actual people. Does anyone have a link to a study that actually measures people's heads against their heights instead of repeating the same numbers as gospel? I'm willing to be corrected, but I'd like to know.

Lt. Danger posted:If a typical male is just shy of six foot, does that mean their heads are each twelve inches long? Apparently adult male heads are supposed to be about 9 inches long, which would make six foot guys 8 heads tall. Obviously it's not that simple, though, because taller people tend to have larger heads, but it does lend more credence to the 7.5 than the 6 I was led to believe. I have learned something today. If Ryder and Shepard have the same head size, that means Ryder there is something like 4'10''. Lol, hoist by my own petard. Funny, though.
