Dead a Buried came out with a new patch today. Added a new map and single player horde mode. It's pretty fun and I'm glad I can experience that game in some fashion single player. I hope all games do that from now on. All I need now is Robo Recall and an endless mode added to Super Hot VR and I'll be using the rift every day again.

Here's a guide on how to make SteamVR work properly:

1. Sell your Rift and occlusion prone Touch controllers.

2. Buy a Vive

3. Start SteamVR and you should be good to go.

Don't worry, with Revive you'll still be able to play your Oculus exclusives that you may have already bought.

Or you could just go into the vr config and set the height to something else

Any ideas getting SteamVR working properly with an Oculus Rift? For some reason I'm always standing at half height, and the screen glitches out when I play The Lab. I tried resetting the seated position, but it didnt fix the issue. Meanwhile the Oculus Home area works perfectly and the height is appropriate. I just updated to the SteamVR beta but it didn't seem to help much.

Get SteamVR Advanced Settings. It includes a button inside SteamVR to fix the floor height.

As the other guy said SteamVR Advamced Settings will fix the floor problem, and also let you turn off the chaperone walls and just use guardian instead. ChaperoneTweak can also be helpful if you're having problems with area definition in SteamVR

edit: the best climbey maps I've played so far that weren't in the buncollection series (that guy needs to make more he has a great sense of design) are airfield (8/10 difficulty, extremely long, but lots of checkpoints) and skyscraper (4.5/10 difficulty and very tightly designed)

I had a similar problem. I fixed it by putting the rift on the floor and entering my height. Seems backwards but it worked.

Screw cable twisting, I need to dust off my Omni and give that a try.

Also if you guys haven't 5089 is similar and still fun in and out of VR. Fantastic on the Omni too, just again... That stupid cable. :argh:

so the giant warhammer in GORN is now, unequivocally, my favourite video game weapon ever. oh my god. so much fun. wait for it, wait for it, wait for it, SMASH CAVE THAT FUCKERS SKULL IN. i think it gave me a semi tbh. maybe i need help.

also fun is doing giant horizontal sweeps and destroying their kneecaps. it's actually a bit disturbing the rush you get from maiming and dismembering dudes in VR, even as cartoony as GORN is. VR is either going to give a lot of potential serial killers an outlet or create a lot of new ones.

Ok, so i showed my family VR like they requested and while setting up the headset for my little sister i talked about lens spacing and how i have to have it at max and even then its just exactly perfect. To which she replied that my head and general face area is loving retarded so this is no surprise. Could this be true?? Could my face be too retarded for VR??

But nah they loved it, thanks for the game recommendations.

No, you are just at the maximum allowable retarded face for VR, that's all.

Worst thing about VR is you can't use it when you have a cold. Or maybe that's the worst thing about having a cold, no VR.

Hamerhead eyes makes VR difficult, (though if you made a headset for it, the amount of convergence you could have... :downs:

As for Colds, I agree. Having a cold and playing VR makes your sort of get the feeling that VR isn't fun even when you are finally over the drat cold.

The Asus should use an Asmedia 1142 dual port controller. It's pretty good.

I'd take a cold over trying to use a VR headset in heat. My home office has west facing windows, meaning it gets all the afternoon and evening sun. Today has been 42 degrees C here and the only cooling in this room is a fan, using a VR headset for more than a few minutes is pretty much impossible.

I never considered someone would have a computer in such heat. I don't like it to go over 24 degrees. I am in Canada though.

If I did the math right that's 107 F, get a window AC unit holy hell. Using VR gets you hot so fast (roomscale exercise + covered face + sim sickness causes your head to heat up) I tend to want to run a window unit on high the whole time. Usually I try to get it down to 65 F or so when in VR even though it's a little too cold when outside VR.

Exactly this. Dude get some AC in that place. Hot VR is the worst. (The Omni makes it even worse due to the exercise of running around physically. I imagine it is similar for the other VR Workout experiences like the Bike and rowing.) If you do it in around the 65F area then usually you are ok.

Some more quick impressions:

Things I really liked
Ratchet nx (Honestly makes me feel like I could learn how to play Tennis/Racketball with enough practice) Change in skill was obvious in just a couple of minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N7XHOk7ZeOk
Herobound: Spirit Champion (Oculus store) Good VR Zelda-like. Super generous checkpoints (every minute or so)
Landfall Open Beta (Oculus store) (Open Beta going again until 2/13). If you have a Rift, try this. I had some issues getting it working with Revive (would work for a bit but then stop).

Ok - So So
Dead Hungry Demo
Quell 4d (Good, but not great fps, tough checkpoints (10+ minutes) make it hard to push through, gave up)

Did you type/convert that correctly? Where in blazes are you that it's over 107 outside? If you're an Aussie, don't you think limiting your situational awareness is unwise given the general pro-murder stance of your environment? Dropbears son.

It's finally getting to proper cold winter temperatures here in England but when I play Dead & Buried I still have to have the windows open, and even then I get a good sweat goin on. It also gave me a genuine workout the other day, in the morning my arms and legs were aching.
