While they do like making people offended, go to one of their festering grounds and you will find they also genuinely believe most of their poo poo. They still vote for right-wing candidates and will be 'joking' all the way until people are being sent off into camps (and probably after too). Obviously things like 'the egyptian chaos god Kek was summoned using /pol/'s meme magic in the form of pepe and caused the election of Donald Trump' are complete bullshit and they know it. But 'Europe has become a third world level shithole where gangs of Syrian refugees are constantly killing and raping white women', 'France will be majority Muslim by 2050' and 'Antifa is a terrorist organisation funded by George Soros' are things they usually actually believe. The mixture of truth and '''irony''' makes them drat near impossible to argue with. If you call them out on anything they will dodge it by saying it was just a joke. If you explain to them why making a racist joke is still racist then they will ask 'why are you so offended?'. And they will continue asking basically as long as you talk to them. It makes it incredibly frustrating to talk to them, which I assume is the point.

I think the idea is to do something to counter the progress of Islamophobia, homophobia, and white supremacy before people end up in concentration camps dude. He said "will be", not "are". You're right that hyperbole doesn't help, but not taking this poo poo seriously is part of why Donald Trump is in the White House and being advised by the executive chair of Breitbart. He's been POTUS for less than a month and we've already had an overreaching Muslim air travel ban (which is indiscriminately targeting brown-skinned Christians and Muslim American citizens) which has been enforced by various federal agencies in defiance of court orders. That said, it's also stupid not to call someone a fascist just because some people (many of whom are on the right, who love to call people they disagree with fascists, communists, or terrorists regardless of their actual values) used a word wrong sometimes. There are definitely ideological fascists within the alt-right, and people who deny that completely either don't understand the movement's ideological origins or set the bar for what qualifies as fascism so impossibly high that almost nobody counts, even people who openly discuss their admiration for and lineage from European fascist movements.

I definitely agree there. the liberals/lefties let it grow and when they did try to fight it, they did a terrible loving job at it and basically made it grow more. they tried the various angry parent approaches which doesnt loving work, but they continue doing it.
