Punkin Spunkin posted:That was pretty cool but there's something about the repeated dog bark that skews more goofy than scary for me There's going to be a version of the trailer released accidentally in a few days where most of the audio is missing and we can tell they re-used the same recorded bark for the dog multiple times.

Then we'll see video of the dog under duress from the film crew as it continually tries and fails to get that right 'bark', all under the supervision of the American Humane Association

Was that the same bark being repeated? Like, the same exact bark? Embarrassing. Did they learn nothing from THE MUMMY?

Man, I watched The Beguiled knowing nothing about it while going through Clint's filmography chronologically. My reaction was basically, "Holy poo poo, that was pretty good," and, "Holy poo poo, I can't believe the kind of stories they could get away with telling in the 70s." Didn't realize at the time it was a massive flop. Still one of those movies I can suggest to people who have no idea what it is. This remake looks practically identical, which always leads me to wonder what the point is.

Remakes are safer and it uses current stars to get people to go watch it. Simple math really.

I am just not sure what the 2017 appeal is for a movie about a bunch of manipulative people that doesn't really have anything resembling a sympathetic or heroic lead? Or will they modify it and make McBurney more likeable?

the absolute worst titles are the ones that are just a first or last name, like Paterson. it blows my mind that Paul Thomas Anderson thought Sydney would've been a better title than Hard Eight.

The Mary Shelley biopic was formerly titled A Storm in the Stars. It is now titled, wait for it, Mary Shelley. At least people know who she is. But that's a drat downgrade. Not going from A Princess of Mars to John Carter level or anything, but still pretty bad.

Coaaab posted:Paterson is the wrong example to use, though, since the title works on three levels. I haven't seen the movie, to be fair. I'm sure I'll like the film itself, I tend to really like Jarmusch, it was just the first example that popped into my head. It works in biopics I guess, I doubt I could come up with better titles for Jackie or Patton.
