I, too, am hoping for this. Desperately.

Also, Ilitch was literally the son of immigrants who came up from nothing to essentially be the greatest city patron ever.

uhhh he was pretty good for your sports team and city and i know he just died but that's a bit of a bold claim to make about one particular rich guy in a human history of hundreds, maybe thousands of years of rich guys spending money on cities

Illitch was a good owner who turned the Red Wings into one of the premiere teams in the league, plus he tried to do a lot for Detroit (and yes line his pockets in the process). His passing is a bummer :smith:

Hey, Ilitch was a good dude. Hell, if we're talking about owners I'd prefer a dead Mike Ilitch over a live Roberto Aquilini.

How many sports owners would we honestly consider bad though? Marge Schott and Donald Sterling are more immediate answers but most seem content to just scam tax payers out of money.

Roberto Aquilini is bad and I'd wish he'd keep to sticking his dick in to people not his wife instead of things not his wife.

Jeffery Loria, the Maloofs, almost everyone in the EPL.

Also George Steinbrenner is probably burning in hell

On the date of that letter, I went to a Wings game for my 4th birthday. The Wings beat Pittsburgh 4-3, Mario Lemieux got his 1000th point, and a fan caught a puck in his beer.

I guess I should be more aware of who owners are. Totally forgot about the Maloofs. I guess if it reaches the point where you're casually noticed the leagues are already trying to figure out how to remove you.

Most sports owners are really, really thin skinned. Of course, there's exceptions, but they don't take well to insults at all.

Brian France has spent the last 13 years trying to kill the sport his grandpa started and his dad brought into the mainstream through a continuous improvement plan of progressively worse ideas. Does that count?

Amway has nothing to do with Ilitch. Amway is the DeVos family and Grand Rapids.

That whole sponsorship thing was due to Tom Wilson, and backlash killed that thing early.
