The Vikings have released guards Brandon Fusco and Mike Harris. Fusco has never been the same since he tore his pec and then switching to left guard and back to right guard probably didn't help matters. Harris was decent for a little, but he has some sort of mystery condition that kept him out last season and now appears will likely end his career. All we know is that it is non-football related and I believe was described as an illness. Not sure if it is a mental illness or physical illness, but the team and Harris have been very vague about it. They did keep him on the IR last year, so I believe he became a vested veteran and qualifies for insurance and a pension. Hope whatever the issue is doesn't impact his day to day life.

Fusco took it relatively well it seems:

The line was in dire need of overhaul, though being in a perennial state of rebuilding does get tiresome after a while, I just hope these guys land on their feet.

There have been rumors circulating about him being released for a while, so he knew the writing was on the wall and had time to process things. Seems like a good guy, but between injuries and switching betweeg LG and RG, he was just never the same after the injury. I'm sure someone will give him a chance, but the Vikings needed to go in a different direction. Releasing Fusco and Harris opened up $4.8 million in cap room. Now they just need to release Peterson, but I think that issue will drag on until March 10th or 11th and there is a chance that he could be back, even though I think it would be a terrible idea.

There has also, been speculation that Berger may retire, which would create another hole that needs to be filled. They can't fully rebuild the line in one off-season, but it needs to be the top priority in both FA and the draft. There is a chance that they'll need to replace 4 out of their 5 starters with Boone being the only holdover.

This is the kind of thing we need on the Ravens now. Yeah most of it was caused by the Raiders badly misplaying on defense but I don't think you'd see Ben Coates make this play. Or even Todd Heap though he wasn't drafted yet.

Or this play: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3MFriFjyv4&t=513s

That was against Jacksonville the play that had us beat that franchise for the very first time. Even Chris Berman says it's the biggest win in franchise history. That's the game that made me a Ravens fan right there. I never knew football was that exciting.

Right now Ravens football is boring and lifeless. It needs more characters like this man.

Oh ok sorry. I just found that 2000 highlight package and was hoping that game was in there. I wish I could get ahold of that full game somehow. That was the game that made me a fan like I said. And it just ties back into the whole thing. I just miss that old Ravens team. It wasn't just Sharpe. That's why I always liked Richard Sherman cause he reminded me of that old Ravens team. They were loudmouths including their coach Brian Billick. Now I always wanted Billick fired in those days but I regret it now. I wish we had kept him because he was fun and interesting not like Harbaugh is. Harbaugh is a dull and lifeless guy that the current team reflects. Billick was a smartass. And yeah he got us Boller but he knows he messed up there. Billick doesn't defend the Boller thing and is upfront about where he went wrong. If we get rid of Harbaugh I'd love to see Billick come back for a few years if he were willing. Even if he didn't do well he would bring some fun back. That's what I miss.

Because in the free-agency era HoF-locks, outside from QB, might win you a few games but they will not win you championships because the second derivation of cap-hit => increase in team win% is almost certainly negative for every position beside QB in the NFL.

Obviously my previous post was in jest, I just think it's interesting, that Belichick was the coach of two people who are in the conversation about the greatest football player of all-time.

News: rumors are that the Browns, Bears, and 9ers may be interested enough in Garoppolo to fork over a 1st + other picks, especially due to the untested draft class at QB.

Views: If the net result of Deflategate is that the Pats win the superbowl and, because they got to highlight Garoppolo for 1.5 games, come away with net more draft picks I may well pass out from the pure strain joy.

NFL Network should turn it into an even where QB needy teams compete for Jimmy G. Maybe turn it into a poker tournament where you buy in with draft picks (1st rounder minimum buy in) and than can rebuy as many chips as you like with the Patriots getting everything at the end.

I would watch that.
