Has anyone nominated Patriots fans yet for somehow being smug while playing the victim card?

Derek Car is, I'm sure a good dude, he just picked a bad time to talk about kids working, because this ridiculous gem just came back around: http://www.msnbc.com/the-last-word/gop-rep-poor-kids-should-sweep-school-floors

Carr is definitely not advocating child labor, no. It's just a douchey to talk about bootstraps in the current political climate.

I want so badly to nominate Packers fans for the whole "Aaron Rodgers is already entering his decline, we knew it was coming, but already!??" the first halfish of the season, after which they proceeded to win a playoff game and the division but unfortunately most of you alright. I'll go with George McCaskey for this: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/breaking/ct-bears-workers-comp-spt-0204-20170203-story.html quote:Basically, if passed the bill would prevent atheletes from receiving benefits after age 35 So if a player gets injured they won't be eligible for workers comp past the age of 35.

This is not the douche of the year thread, and nobody is writing anything down. I think this thread's purpose is to provide a place to note specific douchebag events, for reference when the annual award thread goes up? Or whatever, I didn't organize it. Point being, do what you want but I wanted it to be clear I'm not using this thread to collect nominations.

To be fair, Carr was also the guy that put out an olive branch to Manziel and said he was treated unfairly. This was after Manziel got kicked off of the Browns for all of his behavioral poo poo and, you know, beating up his girlfriend. If Carr isn't a douche, he's a goddamn moron.

Here's the quote: quote:"What's crazy," Carr said as we drove in the predawn toward Oakland, "is, you know, I spent a lot of time around him. He's such a good dude. I obviously wish him the best, you know I hope that ... hopefully one day he'll reach out, [I'd] be able to talk to him and be a friend to him." I don't see anything about Carr saying Manziel was treated unfairly.

I mean DV is personal to Mark and all, just not personal enough to stand up to daddy (I admit this is a cheap shot, I probably wouldn't stand up to Al either, especially if I were Mark). But then again, he'd better be gone soon according to you.

Is Aldon Smith that much of an asset to the team after having barely played for them these last two years that a suspicion of his involvement in domestic violence, after his long history of other offenses, is worth brushing off? You'd think that would be enough but it seems like Mark Davis can't bear the weight of making moral decisions and will only do it when his hand gets forced by the NFL or due process.

So a "suspicion of his involvement in domestic violence" is enough for you? If an actual complaint is filed or enough unofficial evidence comes forward I'll be the first person wanting him off the team.

If you're famous football man Greg Hardy, you can plead down felony cocaine possession to a misdemeanor and probation: http://www.fox4news.com/news/239448662-story 2 years probation, $500, community service, and he's getting back to training for his soon to be amazing MMA career!

So it looks like Ben Has Tiny Weenus started last years' douchbag awards thread on May 16th. I see no reason to deviate from that, so I'll be starting the new thread in a couple of weeks. Now would be a good time to post any requests or demands or feedback as to format and content.

Yeah I mean I kinda agree with you, but I don't think I can write a document that comprehensively established what is douchey and what is too nasty to be douchy. Also Big Rapey Ben has established a precedent. I think it's OK for goons to disagree on those lines and argue about them in the thread, provided it doesn't get too creepy or start resulting in reports and probations.

Sometimes it can be both. Jameis "Famous Rapist" Winston: Evil: Rape Douche: Saying "gently caress her right in the pussy!" Adrian Peterson: Evil: Beating your toddler son so hard that his nutsack splits open Douche: Whining about how your team didn't support you Ray Lewis: Evil: Accessory to murder Douche: Still being self-righteous after the fact

There's a further complication; acts, however douchy, which were punished, are ineligible for consideration. So someone convicted of rape and sent to jail can't be in the douchebag of the year awards (or at least, not for that act of rape). But someone who allegedly committed an act of rape, and then was not convicted, can only be presumed guilty by goons, without the standard of evidence that is required in a courtroom. So, do we want to engage in a debate in the douchebag of the year awards as to whether or not someone accused of rape, who is "probably" guilty? I would suggest we do not. It would be better to instead vote such a man as a douchebag because of the douchebaggery surrounding the accusation, their douchebag defense in the media, the douchebag ways they (and their team and supporters) tear into the possible victim while making excuses for the possible rapist, etc. If such a man were, say, Ben Roethlisberger, we could say he's a huge douchebag without having to make some kind of solid determination that he definitely legally raped someone. Each voting goon is free to decide that for themselves, but we'd be voting on the basis of how shittily the entire affair was handled and how big of a douchebag Ben was in particular for the way he handled it. That's a fine but I feel fairly important nuance. I think Shiki Dan captures it well.

I think it's more interesting to focus on actually douchey poo poo, like the dude that mocked the kid that brought his dead grandma's photos to the draft, than to harp on whichever athlete was accused of raping a classmate this month.
