Probably because Plumlee is an athletic, mobile, passing big that pairs perfectly with Jokic on paper.

Yeah what? Denver had to pay to dump Nurkic and a team with no good bigs? Granted the Memphis pick is gonna be early 20s but drat

Plumlee is a wash on offense, but he sets good screens and can pass. On defense he is very active and can protect the rim (don't know the numbers so feel free to contradict me). He should basically fit into their system like a much bigger Faried

Plumlee is a good passing big that should pair better with jokic imo Denver giving up a first was dumb though

So he can play the 4 effectively then? I thought he was more of a small ball 5 but I haven't watched much portland

They're not "paying" to get rid of Nurkic, they're paying 20-30 draft slots to exchange him with Plumlee which I do 10/10

He is a five, but he can do everything that Faried does on offense and defense, so it's not like they should be incompatible.

Their defense will improve. This move might be enough to guarantee Denver the 8 seed.

Remember this is the Plumlee that learned the art of illegal screens from KG in Brooklyn.

They should try to package some of their picks and Lillard for Cousins. CJ + Cousins would be a good core to build around.

Yeah I dunno about Plumlee guarding 4s--it's seems like uncharted territory, but clearly Denver believes it'll work.

I think he's mobile enough to do it. Might be a little hard on the knees.

At the very worst you can use him like Kanter and get him to do Jokic things on offense while Jokic sits.

Yeah, I'm confused with all the praise reddit is giving him. Whether you're trading him because you think he'll fetch too much as a free agent or because you're all in on this draft, it just makes your previous off season work look terrible

Uh, I think their record already makes the previous off season look terrible. I think it is a good move to avoid a sunk cost fallacy. If your dumb moves didn't work, get future assets as best as you can(while avoiding the lux tax another year).

Well their salary is crazy dumb but I mean if you're trying to reload this draft you do that trade 10/10 times, it's a good move.

I mean yeah their last off season was a trash fire and no one can tell if they're tanking or trying to compete, but like in isolation it seems solid.

In isolation it's trading a much better player that works with your style of play for a worse player that doesn't to gain 20-30 draft slots. Don't like the move at all unless it's for the purpose of tanking. The energy of Plumlee keeps them good.

Maybe, but letting your best big man go isn't a good thing either. Especially if it's because you gave a bunch of money to your 4th best guard
