On that front, 30 more down, about 100 to go… Is there a pill you can get against discovery-credit-magpie-OCD? Also, I've noticed that these things do some pretty odd stuff with how the terraforming potentials of planets are calculated. Take this system, for instance. The red dwarf sits some 50kLs away from the neutron star; its planets sit at anywhere from 300–4,000 Ls away. Of all the planets in the system, only three are not candidates for terraforming: the gas giant (duh), the lava planet (also duh), and the one that sits within what would normally be the goldilocks-zone for an M-class. Even the planet without atmosphere is somehow a candidate. I've seen this behaviour crop up in numerous neutron systems, for some reason. I think Stellar Forge might be a bit drunk… Tippis fucked around with this message at 20:43 on Feb 12, 2017 |

Do any stations or whatever specialize in ground exploration missions? It's been so long I don't really remember how missions even work. (edit) Also any recommended 360/XB1 controller profiles/settings? Ciaphas fucked around with this message at 21:01 on Feb 12, 2017 |

For 360/XB1/DS4 controller settings, I just use "default context" or something like that, one of the presets. Whenever you hold down one of the face buttons for more then a second, it'll even pop up a little HUD showing you what all the combinations with that button will do. I think I changed like one button out of the default settings to give me a "throttle to zero" button.

If you leave the bubble and hit up an belt or a ring, do pirates spawn there too? This wouldn't be a practical alternative but I'm curious how far ~brabens~ vision takes that ridiculous mechanic. What I really want to know is what scanners do pirates get to equip that tells them where miners are hiding because they're obviously far more powerful than anything we get.

I probably make less on a mining run than you (even taking all the bounties I claim into account), but I very rarely see the re-buy screen. So it's probably a more lucrative, varied and interesting way to mine.

I just turned this game back on after a long hiatus and took my asp explorer out for a spin. I almost burned up jumping in to a binary star system. There seems to have been a lot of graphical improvements. What's the quickest way to make money right now? I only have about 3mil. Are any of the community goals worth it?

There seems to have been a lot of graphical improvements. Any community goal (that has a reasonable chance to end on a high tier) in which you end in the top 50% will probably double if not triple your net worth so yes. Besides that, anything makes decent money these days unless you want top tier ships that are 100+ millions. I don't know what exploits are currently available if any, but passenger missions are some of the best paying and the Asp is the perfect ship for it so I would start there.

Just buy a size 5 or 6 first class passenger cabin, a fuel scoop of your favorite size, 5A FSD drive and get ready to travel. Missions range from ferrying people to the system next door to 5000 ly away, or say 3x 100 ly trips to tourist attractions.

Maybe get someone in a combat ship to escort you. They can screw off to a res site once they deal with your followers. I think you could also wait to start mining until the pirate gets bored.

What's the cheapest ship that can carry passengers? I own a viper mk3 I can sell because I don't like combat anyway, a cobra mk3, and I think a cobra mk4 I had set up for mining.

Take your MK4 if you want to carry more passengers or your MK3 if you want to travel faster.
