Hexenritter posted:I read that as "make one roll, if you succeed you gain one wound. Proceed with the rest of the turn." Not "stand there going all SSJ and regenerating from near death to full health in under 5 seconds." yes. no-one is saying "fully regenerate in 5 seconds"; it is instead a rather bizarre question of "hey, do you sit there and roll out each turn after combat ends"? admittedly if you wanna go full crazy on it, you could argue that combat rounds only happen in combat so you can't regen if you're not fighting!! this leads to the old d&d thing of "hey, i only need 6xp to level up, how much is that cow worth?", only with servitors and fistfights

Just let them heal up and then have everyone shoot them for being a horrific abomination in the eyes of all that is good. It's about the only way to play a proper face-tank in the rocket tag that the game turns into

wiegieman posted:That's what regeneration (x) means, though. Their wounds are literally closing before your eyes, and if that river of molten lead isn't hot enough to hurt them enough through their armor and the kind of supernatural toughness that entails then they really can wade though it. DOWN JACKET FETISH posted:yes. no-one is saying "fully regenerate in 5 seconds"; it is instead a rather bizarre question of "hey, do you sit there and roll out each turn after combat ends"? I see that now I'm more compus mentus. A simple house rule stating "outside of combat, regenerate wounds equal to your Regeneration trait's level every non-combat turn (or every 2 or whatever)" could bypass the "dude sitting there rolling like a Limp Bizkit song" problem. Though I really like the "go punch servitors to trigger your regen" idea.

My gaming group hasn't considered it, but I'm guessing I can convince our GM to make Spece Muhreen regeneration be something like: "Double all healing effects". So you heal double when someone heals you after combat, and you heal twice as fast from narrative time spans. Boom, you're not healing back to full between fights (something my group doesn't like) and also dealing with Marines having lots of wounds. EDIT: Ok, I now realize we're not talking about all marines having the regen trait. Still. Jack B Nimble fucked around with this message at 05:43 on Feb 9, 2017 |

Maybe a question for the BL thread, but where is the story of the germination of the inquisition told? I was under the impression garro and the grey knights and all that jazz were done as audio books which is like.....uber dissapointing

If there's anyone who cares about Only War, I've been working on a character creator for it and have gotten it to a state where I feel it's at a decent enough place in terms of usability to ask people to check it out: http://neonecharactercreat.us-west-1.elasticbeanstalk.com/ It currently requires a Google account to save/load characters and the PDF export doesn't work yet. Getting it to where it does is the next goal.

There should be Astartes Scout bows. Something that lets Space Marines apply their hilarious strength to an otherwise wimpy ranged weapon. Like the troll antitank bow from Shadowrun. Or give them Storm shields and a bundle of Witch Stakes to throw, like Psyker-hunting peltasts.

Well, if the game had any need for stealth or infiltration, and the scouts were still landsknechts with mohawks and war paint... So it is totally awesome and should be in the game.

So if someone really wanted to do something similar in Deathwatch I'd start there. Deathwatch is 80s action movie stuff anyway, and explosive arrows was all Rambo. What I'm saying is a Raptor or Raven Guard would totally use this.

Just a quick plug, I'm running a deathwatch game over here as an alt-week thing for Susan's DH campaign, and we only have three players so far, wouldn't mind adding a couple more. We could use an apothecary, techmarine, devastator, or another tactical marine. We just had a successful tutorial-ish session, it's a good time to hop in. Around 10 AM PST sundays, if you're interested.

Rip_Van_Winkle posted:This sounds rad, sent you a PM about it if you're still recruiting. Yay ! You should post your concept in the thread, still got plenty of openings . On a completely different note: My IRL Rogue Trader group is going to be going up against Tyranids soon, and there will be a small detachment of Escort ships in the asteroid field they're investigating. How noticeable would their warp presence be to the Navigator and Astropath on the ship? My understanding is that there isn't a true "Shadow" in the warp without a larger fleet with Leviathans present, but would it be detectable at all even with just a half dozen scouts? My hope is for a nasty surprise once the crew hits their target, but I also wouldn't mind the team psykers to at least have some inkling that there's something off.
|
# ? Feb 16, 2017 03:46 |

A shadow in the warp is interference brought about by the Tyranids constantly communicating psychically, the size and severity of the shadow in the warp mostly depends on how many Tyranids are present. A few escort ships might be just white noise that those who don't know what it is might ignore.
|
# ? Feb 16, 2017 04:02 |

You don't really get a Shadow without a full-on Hive Fleet heading in your direction. It's a tidal-wave sort of phenomenon - at a smaller scale it's just a 'wave' and isn't distinguishable from normal warp fluctuations.
