Butt first, let's

I definitely think there's a chance that (a) there's a LMD in there other than Caulson/Mace/Mack/Daisy and (b) that one of those four (well, 3 since LMD Caulson was confirmed) might not be a LMD. I'm not going to make guesses or get bogged down in that stuff because it would all be pure speculation. Its just that there were a couple of elements there that seemed to stand out to me like Fitz and Simmons never even broaching the question of whether they were LMDs when you'd think they would and it would be an easy test.

But if its a thing it will be part of next week's episode and I have no interest in spending a week overthinking it and ruin that.

Like, either he was swapped in this episode when he was alone, or he's been a robot for ages (accounting for some of his behavior -- the interest in Aida's head, being so quick to destroy LMD Radcliffe). The latter means that he could have been loving with the LMD detector for ages, but doesn't account for his absence from the submarine (unless the original died), so I'm going with the former for now.

I agree with this. I've been figuring Fitz has been an LMD since AOS pointedly didn't show how in the hell Radcliffe and Fitz got away from killbot Aida when they found the body of the dead SHIELD guy.

Well its not like the Darkhold just turns you into a raving madperson in an instant like Mouth of Madness or something. It basically seems to make its readers obsessed with what it can give them over time. And the Superior was plenty obsessed with what he wanted. In theory what the Darkhold would offer him was a way to get Caulson and he already had that.

Plus we don't necessarily know that it drives everyone mad. Its entirely possible that the problem is that it keeps getting read by mad scientists thirsting for some breakthrough and power.

I genuinely like that. I never bought into "The Superior" as the big bad so I love the way his pretty "meh" motivation, plan, and story just got dismissed out of hand by Caulson and then he turned him over to Daisy. Because the Watchdogs have always been more of a villain for Daisy and Radcliffe, Aida, and the LMDs are way more of a serious problem than they ever were.

Its kind of like the KKK being taken down by Superman because once you take away their mystique ("The Superior") and influence (Nadeer) they're just racist assholes in white hoods/masks.

This show is just big on misdirection so you always kind of expect it when they leave a door open. Which also gives them a great reason to occasionally leave a door slightly ajar just to keep people guessing even if there's nothing at all to it.

But I'm sure by next Tuesday we'll have analyzed every single person on teh show and their odds of being a robot.

And yeah, I'm loving terrible with names.

I was a little disappointed Daisy didn't just keep hammering him with quakes until he shattered like Humpty Dumpty, though. The show is usually pretty good about avoiding the "leave our enemies just sitting around to come after us again" poo poo, and after she floored him she just .. walked off and didn't worry about it later.

Also it occurred to me there could be a huge misdirect still here: What if nobody was replaced, and Fitz was actually taken by Aida when he was alone, and everything so far has been a simulation within the Framework to get information from him?

Yeah I'm totally going to play my long shot. If Fitz pulls out every trick he knows to get inside Shield and assume control from his "hijacked" allies, Radcliff will get all that information too. It'd be a good misdirect even if it's very unlikely.

Radcliffe and Fitz "escaped" rampaging Aida because Radcliffe was already under the influence of the Darkhold, and had programmed Aida to act like that. He knew he wasn't shutting her off, and that she'd "turn back on". It was part of his plan to get her into the base to try to get the Darkhold back.

Also, they showed all 4 members hooked up to The Framework at the end. So, yes, all 4 have been replaced.

Fitz was replaced earlier. When he hooked up Daisy, Coulson, and Mack to the Matrix, he got their brain scans so they could be replaced with LMDs in the Russian base.

Mace may also have been scanned and therefore replaced.

Do LMDs have superpowers? Because that's the perfect way to test Daisy - just have her shake the base a little.

With all these drat robits running around, I'm guessing someone is going to die and their LMD will get freed from their programming so they can join the team. I'm gonna guess Fitz or Simmons because that enables the classic 'can robots feel love, and is it okay to gently caress an android?' angst.

Alphonso "Mack" MacKenzie waited. The lights above him blinked and sparked out of the air. There were robots in the base. He didn't see them, but had expected them now for years. His warnings to Leopold Fitz were not listened to and now it was too late. Far too late for now, anyway.
Mack was a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent for fourteen years. When he was young he watched the spaceships and said to dad "I want to be on the ships daddy."
Dad said "No! You will BE KILL BY ROBOTS"
There was a time when he believed him. Then as he got oldered he stopped. But now in the airplane base of S.H.I.E.L.D. he knew there were robots.
"This is Coulson" the radio crackered. "You must fight the robots!"
So Mack gotted his sohtgun axe and blew up the wall.
"HE GOING TO KILL US" said the robots "I will shoot at him" said Aida and fired the rocket missiles. Mack shotugnned at her and blew her up. But then the ceiling fell and they were trapped and not able to kill.
"No! I must kill the robots" he shouted The radio said "No, Mack. You are the robots"
And then Mack was a robot.

Dude, what if the show deals with the fitz dad stuff before we find out he was switched, then we as the audience see charictor growth for the fitz character but it's really a robot.

That way it's hard to wright him off so well as we saw the robot reacting and resolving to a fitz memory.

Then the real fitz dies (causing the LMD revelation) and the robot replaces him on the show.

We get drama of the FizSimmons relationship as Simmons helped Fitzzbot out with his dad stuff and is now emotionally invested in it.
